Nirvana - MTV Unplugged in New York
Nirvana Is...
Kurt Cobain
Dave Grohl
Pat Smear
Krist Novoselic
Plateau, Lake of Fire, and Oh, Me are all Meat Puppets covers from Meat Puppets II
David Bowie originally sang The Man Who Sold the World
Where Did You Sleep Last Night was originally a Leadbelly song
Jesus Doesn't Want Me for a Sunbeam was The Vaselines, which was also a cover of what was a children's hymn.
This album, in my opinion, barely, wipes past Nirvana's last studio album "In Utero" and "Nevermind" as the best Nirvana album. It's emotional. Kurt's vocals and lyrics show him wearing his heart on his sleeve, and in good style. The thing about this, though, is that Kurt really didn't want it to turn out the way it did. In the words of another review, "...it's the Nirvana that nobody, especially Kurt, wanted revealed". However, the album is great regardless of what the band wanted it to be. Major song highlights are Bowie's "The Man Who Sold the World", which was expertly covered. As well, "Pennyroyal Tea", "Lake of Fire", "All Apologies" (What would Nirvana be without it's biggest hit?), and an album ender to end all albums, the dark, hauntingly great, "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?". Overall, this is easily a must have for any fan of the Nirvana or grunge and alt. rock in general. Aw, hell. If you have ears, buy this album. It's definitely one for the ages.

Noooooo, someone did it before me!!!!!
Anyway man, your reviews have potential, but this one is really incomplete.
| | | Thanks br3ad_man.
I know it's rather incomplete. I don't have the album with me, so I was going mainly off of what I remembered. But I do try... :D
That aside, this is my second review for this forum. My first was earlier today, and that was Joy Division's Closer. The style which I did that one in is the one I plan on basing any future reviews of mine around, as it seems to be commonly accepted (with variations) on the forum. But seeing as the cirucumstances around this review (i.e., me not having it with me) were special, I just went with what I had.
| | | Pretty good review, it would've benefitted with a song by song analysis though.
| | | Yeah. I think that if I get more requests for that with this one, I'll actually just take the album w. me when I leave for Arkansas and take notes on the way down. :D

Maybe you should post your review in this thread then.
| | | this album isnt that bad for a nirvana album. try adding some band history, too.
| | | This is the only Nirvana album I like.
| | | Really incomplete. You could of put alot more into it. Song to song analysis, etc.

I will, just finishing it today :D
| | | this cd i think is one of nirvanas greatest......this review sucked
| | | this is my favorite cd of theirs. where kurt starts yelling in "where did you sleep last night", god, thats bone chilling.
| | | this is top 5 greatest cd's ever made, the power, the emotion (especially in the leadbelly cover "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?") still reeling from the end of that one - hell this is top 3 albums of all time even if you dont like nirvana this album is stunning (ps this is an opinion not a really lame review)
| | | To quote Jack Black in the School Of Rock: "One Great show can change the world."
This is one fine example. I got ahold of the SVCD (super video CD) copy of the performance, and it is stunning to see as well as hear. Excellent album.
