Review Summary: The Unseen Empire won't make album of the year, but if you were disappointed about Dark Matter Dimensions and are hesitant to listen to it, I encourage you to take a look. I've been a fan of Scar Symmetry since the release of Pitch Black Progress; I watched as their fanbase grew, watched Christian leave the band and two singers take his place, then I watched their fanbase contract. I don't know what happened to Dark Matter Dimensions, it had the potential to be great, but it fell far short of their previous albums. I was afraid The Unseen Empire would be the same - a bunch of potential dumped for no apparent reason. While The Unseen Empire is not another "Pitch Black Progress" or "Holographic Universe", it is certainly not another Dark Matter Dimensions.
Scar Symmetry seems to have hit their stride with this release - where Dark Matter Dimensions was dull and boring, The Unseen Empire picks up the slack and pulls hard. The riffs are interesting and brutal, and the singers really hit the mark. I'm just left wondering where the synths went, my favorite part about Holographic Universe. While it does make some appearances, it's not nearly as exciting as it was. However, that's a small complaint considering how well everything else on this album is done. I really want to compliment the singers. The screaming vocalist has gotten a little better, though he already sounded great. The singing vocalist has made true strides, he has found his niche and has gotten better at controlling his voice, a major complaint of mine from Dark Matter Dimensions. Another thing is the length - I thought the album was too short, especially compared to their other albums.
The Unseen Empire probably won't make best album of the year, but if you were disappointed about Dark Matter Dimensions and are hesitant to listen to it, I encourage you to take a look. Flaws exist, but there is a major difference between what is and what used to be. I recommend listening to "The Anomaly", "Domination Agenda", and "Rise Of The Reptilian Regime".

This album is alright. But having listened to DMD after a long pause, I thought it was close to their first three actually. This one, on the other hand, feels a class worse than their first three. Still good and enjoyable ofc.

First of all, a review is an opinion. This was my opinion of the album, if you don't like it, then fine. If you're gonna say "band sucks' you might as well give your own opinion of why it sucks. And I'm not trying to convince anyone to abandon their own opinion.
And, this was a mistake on my part, I didn't know about the front page... lol. I've never been to the main page, so I didn't know recent reviews were posted there. I've always typed into google the album I was looking for.
One a day of new albums from now on... got it. I'm not trying to get everyone to read my reviews; to be honest, I'd be content with just one person reading it, buying the album, and enjoying it. Also, just after I made the first one, I wanted to do another because I was listening to the album at the time and was at school waiting for class to start (two hours, and then a thirty minute gap later on). And I'm not a hipster. If you haven't heard of these bands, don't click on the link!
And can someone please give me constructive criticism? I want to continue reviewing (albeit at a slower rate) but I need to know from someone knowledgable what I'm doing wrong! And I apologize to anyone who was annoyed at the whole three review thing... I'm not trying to get my review read or "bump" anyone... I was just having fun, and didn't realize my review did that

Solid review, dude. Ignore the trolls and haters, it's a good review. Though you should take another paragraph to write about the music. Maybe a sentence or two to highlight specific songs, though you did that at the end.
I need to listen to this again.
