| 3.5 02.26.25 | | The Mars Volta Lucro Sucio; Los Ojos Del VacĂo One listen in and this is most definitely what the s/t should have been - showing off TMV"s ability to write great hooks and concise songs without sacrificing the progressive weirdness they're known for. They're still not going back to the manic craziness of Frances or Goliath and the record is still understated and subtle like the s/t, but there's a LOT more of that signature TMV experimental and prog feel in this than the minimalist, stripped-back stylings of the s/t. It's pretty good y'all | 4.0 02.07.25 | | The Mars Volta The Mars Volta If Peter Gabriel got in a fight with Santana, Blackstar
Bowie, Steely Dan and Radiohead, it might sound like this.
Wholly different than anything they've ever done before, and
great for it. TMV is a bit of a spiritual continuation
of what they were doing on Octahedron and Noctourniquet in
that they've drastically "simplified" their sound for more of

long-time rhythm guitarist Jake Kiley, Strung Out has sounded
like a band on autopilot for a few years now, and this record is
a strong argument for them to retire. The production is bad, the

immediacy and edge from previous albums. | 2.5 01.17.25 | | The Smashing Pumpkins Aghori Mhori Mei Roughly 5 bad albums worth of material after reuniting with most
of the original lineup, Smashing Pumpkins are well and truly back
this time around, with an album full of dynamic progressive
songwriting and most importantly, riffs for days. Is it up to the
snuff of the classics? No. Is it solidly better than anything
else in the SP name that Billy Corgan has done in 20 years? Fuck
yes. | 4.0 08.02.24 | | Stillsuit Green Spock Ears

 | claygurnz Pretty sure it was you who defended my review on SP reddit lol. Thanks, seems like most people on there actually think Atum is any good, which just baffles me.
