05.29.15 | @tresm87 nah dude Kingsman ruled, had some of the best fight scenes. |
JokineAugustus
05.29.15 | Kingsman and Mad Max ruled so hard |
zaruyache
05.29.15 | Kingsman was supposed to be dumb which was why it was so fun. Max was pretty good, though I liked Ultron more. Looking forward to Jurassic World, and American Ultra looks stupid/fun. |
ZrankFrappa
05.29.15 | hehehe |
ZrankFrappa
05.29.15 | To be honest i was very drunk throughout the whole film so i guess my judgement is a tad clouded. Steven Wilson is still a fucking clown though |

05.29.15 | Jurassic World is going to be amazing. Even if it sucks. |

05.29.15 | I've heard some people are calling this movie feminist. Idk why? |
Rice303
05.29.15 | Mad Max fucking ruled and so did Kingsman. I liked that Mad Max had subtle sub plots that added depth to all the mayhem at the end. But basically it's The Raid on wheels |
Flugmorph
05.29.15 | Movie was just amazing |
Flugmorph
05.29.15 | The raid 1+2 also ruled hard btw |
Rice303
05.29.15 | This Raid 2 is perhaps the greatest Martial arts film of this decade, Gareth Evans crammed so much into the movie I just wish it was even longer then it's already 2 and a half hour length. |
Flugmorph
05.29.15 | This last fight with that sickle wielding henchman was just WHUUUUUUUUT |
porcupinetheater
05.29.15 | I think what I really loved about Mad Max was the really subtle world building that was going on beneath the action, that never really called itself but fleshed out the world to a ridiculously extent. Nux's name engraved on the gas pedal of his car. The skeleton engraved on the door of Furiosa's truck (where her severed left arm would normally rest, never calling attention to itself but implying so much history); Mad Max just had amazing set pieces, better than any fucking Marvel "Oh just cut it together from coverage" action fucking bullshit, but with so much underlying it that could fly under the radar.
But I also fucking love Raven That Refused to Sing. What does that say about my relation to action cinema? |
Flugmorph
05.29.15 | that u have a good taste |
porcupinetheater
05.29.15 | Oh shit, new development that I didn't see, Raid 2 is like, the greatest action picture ever. Hard support, 5/5 |
Parallels
05.29.15 | hey brah dont mind if i use u as a rifle stand |
Rice303
05.29.15 | @Porcupinetheater, I agree, that's what I kinda meant by subtle sub-plots, there's a lot of imagery that's used to explain things without dialog, which also causes the action to continue without there having to be lengthy conversations between characters
Max's and Furyosa's relationship in this movie reminds me of Drive (The relationship between Gosling and Carey) without the romantic attachment. They hardly talk and it's subtle, but it strengthens heaps as the movie progresses |
ZrankFrappa
05.29.15 | is silly film |

06.04.15 | If you think Fury Road was a "mindless" film, you really weren't paying attention to the film. |
RadicalEd
06.04.15 | It wasn't mindless, but on the other hand people who act like it was a grand statement on the human condition and the most intelligent movie of the century are funny as well. |

06.04.15 | It didn't really *get* the film when I saw it in theaters as much as I'd hoped, but I'll probably watch it online next year and totally love it. Might go see it at the local drive-in this weekend, if I can force myself to sit through the first showing of Poltergeist. |
zaruyache
06.04.15 | I mean like the frame rate felt weird to me, I'm really particular about how/where I sit, idk. It has to be totally comfortable for me to really get into a film properly. :/ |

06.05.15 | lol you guys |

06.05.15 | The Poltergeist remake is 1/10.
The 1 point is because Jared Harris is awesome. |
zaruyache
06.05.15 | yeah but it's a drive-in so if you wanna see the second film you gotta see the first. At least I can laugh at it, right? That's why I saw Unfriended and it was worth the laugh value imo. |

Froot
06.05.15 | it was alright. the pacing gets kind of ropey towards the third act, the final action scene feels like a bit of a retread in terms of setpieces, and that title can fuck right off, but the movie was fun all things considered. |
DrGonzo1937
06.05.15 | Pacing? It just steam rolls its way to the credits. |

06.06.15 | Apprently it's not for people with short attention spans if they're saying the pacing is ropey. Comes and goes in a flash. |
zaruyache
06.06.15 | I love how having a single female protagonist made this a feminist film. Yeah because saying having sex slaves is bad really makes you a feminazi. Also that whole hubbub was started by some douche blogger who based his entire opinion on not the film itself, but *one* trailer he'd seen where Furiosa had more speaking parts than Max--when the other trailer was mostly Max-centered anyway. Manbabies with paper-thin skin are so adorably funny. |

06.06.15 | yah pre much best movie of all time |
DrGonzo1937
06.06.15 | Max taking the backseat has always been the case in Mad Max films Rabbitpal. He's just the vessel of the story. |
KenboSlice
06.09.15 | "Max taking the backseat has always been the case in Mad Max films Rabbitpal. He's just the vessel of the story."
This so much. People who say Max isn't the main character have clearly never watched a Mad Max film before.
"like max has less than ten lines in the entire movie i swear"
Max only has 16 in Road Warrior and that's one of the best movies ever. |
DrGonzo1937
06.09.15 | I think the point is, the viewer is watching events through Max's eyes. So technically he is the main man, but the films aren't actually about him. Apart from the first film, of course. |
