09.13.21 | I'll give Landberk another go before I vote. I cannot believe Wobbler was the only one eliminated in the last round! |

09.13.21 | You're a playful guy Twig. I liked it. |
e210013
09.13.21 | Wow! This is what I call innovation Friday. My congrats.
|
Jethro42
09.13.21 | @ Inoculaeted, good idea for Landberk. There are couple of good 5's near the end, namely ''You are'', ''Rememberence'' and ''Valentinsong''. |
Inoculaeted
09.13.21 | Reading the T2 Wiki: "In 1992, the Swedish neo-prog band Landberk covered 'No More White Horses' on their album Lonely Land"
Mind blown. |

09.13.21 | @Inoculaeted Dude that's an awesome coincidence! |

09.13.21 | OMG, this is something! I haven't noticed it...I'm more familiar with album Riktigt Akta which contains pretty much the same songs as Lonely Land, but written in Swedish this time. Great pick Inoculaeted! |

09.14.21 | It's time to vote. It was a very hard decision, but it must be made.
I was innitially divided between UTO and Landberk. Latter, T2 became an album that grow up on me with time. So, my ranking remins the same that was initially, but much closer that it was in the beginning. With the time I'm increasingly convinced about the very high quality of the three albums, which are at the same level. So, it's essentialy a question of personal taste. However, my decision of putting UTO in the first place, is essentially because I think it's a very innovative album that crosses almost all styles in a very modern way. It embodies, at my taste, possibly, the future sound of the most sofisticated prog, in the same vein of the best prog bands of the 70's. About Landberk and T2, both albums are very close in style, despite the great difference between both releases. And as we know, one of them even made a cover of a song of the other, which wasn't a cohicidence, surely. Both are two of the best albums I heard in the same style, the heavy prog.
So, here is my final vote ranking:
1. UTO - Mathematical Mother
2. Landberk - One Man Tells Another
3. T2 - It'll All Work Out In Boomland |
Jethro42
09.14.21 | We need to specify that the T2 cover relates to another Landberk album (Lonely Land). By the way, the live Landberk album Unaffected brillantly features a Van Der Graaf Generator song called ''Afterwards''. |
wham49
09.15.21 | t2 by defaut |

09.15.21 | "We need to specify that the T2 cover concerns another Landberk album (Lonely Land)."
Yeah, you're right Jethro, precisely their second work. Thanks for the specification.
"The live Landberk album Unaffected brilliantly features a Van Der Graaf Generator song called ''Afterwards''."
I didn't know that. Thanks for telling me that, bro. I'm going to check it.

09.16.21 | If I'm allowed to jump in the very last round it's:
1. Universal Totem Orchestra - Mathematical Mother
2. Landberk - One Man Tells Another
3. T2 - It'll All Work Out in Boomland
cheer's Friday for organizing these competitions for years regardless of my vote
*Edited for clarity |
Divaman
09.16.21 | 1. Universal Totem Orchestra
2. T2
3. Landberk |
Jethro42
09.16.21 | No chances left for my Landberk. |
Jethro42
09.16.21 | T2 is more like jam rock. I'm surprised you vote it at a 2, Diva. |
Inoculaeted
09.16.21 | T2 is like a warm and fuzzy psychedelic bluesy Cream + Flower Travelin' Band to me. Those horn grooves are so soothing. They just hit the pocket like a good stoner rock or doom band would and ride it the fk out. I am also surprised at it's popularity here over the more prog centric Landberk. |
Divaman
09.16.21 | It's sort of jam rock, but really, I hear it more as psychedelic rock. |
Jethro42
09.16.21 | Yes, good description, Inoculaeted. I just abreviated it for my friend Divaman, because the T2 style is usually not his cup of tea. But it's true that it gets clever arrangements. Both Jazz, blues, jam rock and psych are not his style as I know it. |
Jethro42
09.16.21 | Oh, my bad then, Diva. I didn't know you digged psych. |
Divaman
09.16.21 | It is a little bit outside of my usual wheelhouse, but this LP was very well done. And I especially love that first track, "In Circles". The truth is, while I did vote for Los Jaivas over T2 two rounds ago, it was my most difficult choice in the whole tournament. |
Friday13th
09.16.21 | @tmthy yes, all are welcome so long as you’ve listened to all three albums. |
tmthycnnlly
09.17.21 | Cool then all set
Interested to see what ends up the as the winner |
e210013
09.17.21 | "No chances left for my Landberk."
Yeah, it seems you're probably right. Uto is probably too strong for the opponents, whatever they are. I remember when it beated my Qurteto 1111 in the prog elimination round some years ago. |
Divaman
09.17.21 | I'm actually a little surprised UTO won fairly easily over Wobbler myself, even though I voted for UTO. When Friday first started this tournament, I would have guessed that Wobbler was the favorite to win it all. |
Inoculaeted
09.17.21 | 1. T2
2. UTO
3. Landberk
All so strong so this really boils down to personal taste. All three of these groups are totally worthy (and wobbler too!!). I’m goin to track down the rest of Landberk. |
e210013
09.17.21 | I'm not so surprised, Inoculated. "Mathematical Mother" is really an amazing and unique album in prog. Sorry, I'm going rectify what I wrote before. UTO is really an amazing and unique prog band. They only made three albums till now. This one is the best. But, the other previous are also two amazing albums and desrve to be checked. So, I advice you and all who like "Mathematical Mother" to check "Rituale Alieno" and "The Magus". Both are in the same vein. You'll see that you won't be losing your time. |
bgillesp
09.17.21 | I’m kinda sad I’ve never understood why everyone likes UTO so much. I don’t think I’ve ever voted for it other than vs Heldon. I still like the album, don’t get me wrong, but I haven’t been able to love it like everyone else. |
e210013
09.17.21 | Ok. No problem bgillesp. I always said that the music is essentially a question of taste and also of the moment. It's the same with me. I don't know why so many people like of many albums that I'm not a great fan. The reason why I like of UTO's album is that it's different, irreverent, unique and fits perfectly well with my taste. It's simply like this. |
TheIntruder
09.17.21 | Time to vote:
1. UTO
2. Landberk
3. T2 |
Friday13th
09.17.21 | So far:
UTO: 32 points
T2: 24 points
Landberk: 22 points |
e210013
09.17.21 | It's seems to me this time, step by step, we are going to have a clear and inevitable winner. |
Jethro42
09.17.21 | There were a time when Landberk were more popular in here. I mean it also depends to whom is voting for or against it in a given time. This can relate to other candidates of course. |
loulou
09.17.21 | 1. Landberk
2. T2
3. UTO |
Friday13th
09.18.21 | @loulou Jethro's alt account, I presume? ;)
Current score:
1. UTO: 33 points
2. T2: 26 points
3. Landberk: 25 points |
Jethro42
09.18.21 | ^It could be :) For some reason, I was sure you would think so, but just no. |
Friday13th
09.18.21 | lol jk you don't strike me as someone who would put Converge and Fugazi in your list of favorite bands. |
Jethro42
09.18.21 | Ha! You see? Hahah, and I'm not the style who would have an alt account either...And it would be against the rules ... |
Divaman
09.18.21 | I don't know. If a bunch of Users named Gethro, Deathro and Betthro show up voting for Landberk, I'm going to be really suspicious, heh heh. |
Jethro42
09.18.21 | These are all my brothers! The Dalton. |
Divaman
09.18.21 | Lol. |
Mythodea
09.19.21 | I thought I had voted for this one, but probably some internet failure.... So....
UTO - Mothematical Mother
T2 - It'll All Work Out in Boomland
Landberk - One Man Tells Another |
Jethro42
09.20.21 | Where have all the Landberk lovers gone!?! Other time, other mores (autre temps, autre moeurs)... |
MiloRuggles
09.20.21 | 1. Landberk
2. T2
3. UTO |
tmthycnnlly
09.20.21 | I do legitimately love Landberk but UTO really surprised me. I admit there might be some recency bias here but at the moment I've got my preference |
e210013
09.20.21 | It's the same with me Jethro. The love hasn't gone. Landberk's album is great but UTO is a surprising and overwhelming album. |
e210013
09.20.21 | Since Friday's tourney ended, or almost, I came back with my reviews. I finished to publish a review of "A Drop of Light" of All Traps On Earth.
So, for those who are interested and have time and patience to read it, be my guest. But, at least, check the album, especially those who are interested in challenging and avant-garde works. |
Friday13th

09.20.21 | Nice. Finally it ended. Three great albums in this amazing final. All would have deserved to win, because all are amazing works. Honour to the winner and a deep respect for the defeated.
Thanks Friday for all the great moments that you provided to us all over these years. I only participated in the last four tourneys but they will stay in my memory for ever. Without them, I would never checked almost all of those incredible albums, what would be a pity.
Again thanks. Cheers. We'll see us around here, pal. |

09.20.21 | @e21 glad to have you e21. You've always had something interesting to say and our most prolific prog reviewer! |

09.20.21 | Thanks to you too Friday. e21 said almost all. But a personal thing. Thanks for you you let me participate in the previous tournaments as an outsider. |
