CrimsonFloyd
11.20.12 | Depends what music. |
ButteryBiscuitBass
11.20.12 | Agree with Crimson Floyd. Headphones for metal, without for Jazz and the decisions go on. |

11.20.12 | Thats a very interesting question. But there's a trade off and compromise with each. You could put a list of albums and ask which ones we'd listen with headphones and which with speakers, that ought to spicen things.
"Depends what music." Thats a valid point. |
ReturnToRock
11.20.12 | More with these days, since I'm usually on the go with my MP3. Without when at home though. |
Spare
11.20.12 | depends on what i'm listening to/what environment/circumstances
also headphones s/t is an awesome record. always yes headphones wrt that |
Dolving999
11.20.12 | I only listen music through speakers when:
a) I can turn the volume high enough to hear all the "elements" of the song;
b) There's no risk of disturbing neighbors/roommates ( I live in an apartment);
Which means that 90% of time, I just plug in my closed-ear headphones and crank it up. For example,
less than 1 hour ago, I felt the need to hear Cave In's "Jupiter". But my roommate's sleeping and I
know that hearing the album at low volume through speakers won't do any good. So I'll just go with the
headphones and hear every single layer of the album ( also, I don't go for anything less than 320k). |

11.20.12 | I rarely use headphones unless I'm out of the house. |
OmairSh
11.20.12 | @Dolving Yeah speakers are disadvantageous when you have others around you, really annoying when you just want to tear it up and crank the volume to the max. Good quality headphones get really pricey. |
Minus.
11.20.12 | I prefer headphones because you hear more layers of a song and I also like them because they block the outside world. |
OmairSh
11.20.12 | The mix changes slightly with each, and so there are elements which you can appreciate more on speakers and others on headphones. Also it depends on the mood, if you want to ensure rupturing your ear drums or not. |

11.20.12 | For me personally, you can't beat a bitchin' sound system in your car if you want the best music-listening experience. I just love being in a very small space, surrounded by awesome speakers, and feeling like I'm completely enveloped by the music. It's like peacefully sitting at the bottom of a river that is comprised only of your favorite tunes, and taking everything in as it washes over you!! |
Minus.
11.20.12 | Yeah I'm pretty much deaf from years of headphones and playing in bands |
Chortles
11.20.12 | almost always use headphones |
OmairSh
11.20.12 | I love them both, they both have their charm, and I enjoy listening to music loudly but I've read about a few artists suffering from Tinnitus and it's got me a little more cautious. Though obviously they have listened to music loudly for many many more years, it still doesn't hurt to be cautious. |
Minus.
11.20.12 | Its fucked up cause I have to have a fan turned on when I sleep so my ears dont ring LOL |
OmairSh
11.20.12 | Damn Minus turn that volume down once in a while |
Minus.
11.20.12 | Music seems underwhelming to me at low volumes |
OmairSh
11.20.12 | True |
Youtellme
11.20.12 | I almost forgot I made this, lol
Anyway, I agree with people saying depends.
And I also find music to be underwhelming at low volumes. |
Maniac!
11.20.12 | I prefer to listen to everything on my Audio Technica headphones.
Some post-rock sounds great on my sound system, though. |
menawati
11.20.12 | prefer without |
Minus.
11.20.12 | LOL |
Youtellme
11.20.12 | lmao, same here |
SpiritCrusher2
11.20.12 | when I'm at home, I listen everything on my awesome speakers, because I'm alone on the second floor, so nobody minds if I crank it up.
but when I'm in dorm (I hope that's the english word for a building where students live lol) I always use headphones, because of my roomate and because my laptop speakers suck |
OmairSh
11.20.12 | Youtellme whats going on in the profile picture? |
Turtlestlker
11.20.12 | I normally use headphones, its just easier for me to hear everything and sink myself into it. I have speakers that I use when its convenient. |
wacknizzle
11.20.12 | Sweet list, I usually prefer not using headphones when I can. Sometimes I prefer the experience of headphones though. |
OmairSh
11.20.12 | You have to listen to every album with both, that's the complete experience. |
