06.06.12 90's Emo/alternative

90's Emo/alternative

Just a list of my favorite 90's emo/alternative bands (or at least bands influenced by this genre).
1Jimmy Eat World
Clarity

The album speaks for itself, not a bad song on it.
2The Blacktop Cadence
Chemistry For Changing Times

Raspy vocals, rough harmonies, pretty guitar parts, and catchy tunes. This band
has it all.
3American Football
American Football

Very soothing songs with catchy guitar riffs at the same time. Each song sounds
different from the last.
4Hum
You'd Prefer An Astronaut

Space rock at it's finest. Two really really catchy songs on it particularly: "Stars"
and "I Hate It Too".
5 Knapsack
This Conversation Is Ending

Very great album with simple melodies that go perfectly with the vocals.
6 Mineral
The Power Of Falling

Gosh, can't even describe this album. You have to see for yourself.
7Sunny Day Real Estate
Diary

Forgot to mention this band way up there at the top, but oh well. Catchy guitar,
drums, vocals, everything.
8 Sharks Keep Moving
Self Titled

Old Minus The Bear pretty much, except way more emo less effects, which I
personally like as equally as MTB.
9Penfold
Amateurs And Professionals

Such a good album, with awesome clean guitar parts with a perfect amount of
great, raspy/"whiny" singing lol.
10 Audience of One
Audience of One

Anthony Green's (Circa Survive) old band. Very catchy tunes with Anthony
Green's high pitch singing. Perfect combination.
11Fireside
Hello Kids

Weird vocals with heavy (but melodic) guitar parts. Weird, but oddly accessible.
One song to look at: "Headacher".
12Jejune
This Afternoon's Malady

Girl vocals, guy harmonies, extremely pretty guitar parts. What more could you
ask for?
13Joie de Vivre
The North End

Don't hate me for this, I know it's not 90's, but it's one of the best emo-revival
albums I've ever heard. Perfectly depressing. This SHOULD be in the top 3 of my
list.
14The Promise Ring
30 Degrees Everywhere

I've listened to mainly "A Picture Postcard" by them, but that alone is worth
listing. Off-key singing, but it flows regardless.
15 Texas Is The Reason
Blue Boy

Very catchy/minimal guitar riffs. Definitely worth checking out.
