Warning: Black metal! | | 10 | | Norskian Anathium Autumn Nocturne
The end of the top 10! Good album here, and a very good year for black metal so
far. Note: There's probably some big stuff I've missed. I still have a bit of a backlog
to catch up on, so forgive me. | | 9 | | Coma Void Coma Void
Somewhat doomy bm. | | 8 | | Auriga Reflection of the Majestic
Space metal. Unf. | | 7 | | Miasme perpetual.terminal
Very interesting album! Instrumental atmospheric post-black. | | 6 | | Nasheim Solens Vemod
Yup. More black metal. It's what I specialize in. | | 5 | | Ered Wethrin All Song Ceased
Yep, pretty much. | | 4 | | Ered Wethrin Tides of War
Not to be confused with the Lustre side project of the same name, *this* epic
atmospheric black metal band from Colorado released an amazing album, one of the
best so far. Though, speaking of the Lustre side project... | | 3 | | Crown of Asteria Cycles
Absolutely breathtaking EP. Instrumental atmoblack that is reminiscent of Cascadian
stuff. | | 2 | | Aastraal Tuba Mirum Spargens Sonum Per Sepulcra Regionum, Coget Omnes Ante Thronum
Don't be scared off by the excessively long album title, this album is legit. Avant-
garde atmospheric black metal that employs chamber vox. This was an early
contender for AOTY, being released in January, but was nudged out of #1 by my
current #1. | | 1 | | The Great Old Ones Tekeli-Li
What an amazing album this was. This was one of my most looked-forward-to
albums for the year, and it definitely did not disappoint. Much more aggressive than
their first album! | |

04.24.14 | And of course I accidentally forgot I put this list in reverse order. Oh well. | ExplosiveOranges
04.24.14 | Is it bad that I've never heard of any of these bands? Lol. | MO
04.24.14 | nice list 3 is up there for me | zaruyache
05.16.14 | "Much more aggressive than their first album!"
Dang straight, and it's exactly why I love #1 so much more than their debut. Tekeli-Li is
fantastic.
The production is great and the use of post-black tremolo melodies is incredible.
other bm I liked: Of Solitude and Solemn, Woods of Desolation, My Useless Life, Country Doctor, Sun
Worship, Terra Deep, Forteresse/Chasse/Monarque/Csejthe Split, EREBUS ENTHRONED, Paramnesia/Unru
split, Paramnesia s/t, and my #2 behind Tekeli-Li is Black Monolith's debut.
So there are some rec's for you :3 |
