you can't get a degree on these things, and classical music is not intended to alienate wide audiences except in the most extreme avant-garde circles. a serious and discerning listener should be able to glean enjoyment from almost any style of "classical" or art music. with the right attitude and a little bit of reading to understand the intent of a piece, lots of music will open up for you. this is like saying a person needs a degree in art history to appreciate dali. it's just not true. | sniper
