Albums That Were Important To Me Last Year.
2012 was a crazy intense year for me. I was out of the country for the first 3 1/2 months of, rpreparing to graduate and not trying to give a single damn. This isn't a list of the best albums of rthe year, but of albums that I wore out. |

In The Aeroplane Over The Sea
Last but in no way the lease, Neutral Milk Hotel. This year, when ever I was feeling
down, happy or just confused I always popped this cd into my stereo and just sang
along. This album was important this year because it was familiar, singable and inspiring. This album stands the test of time
and Mangums art is still ringing true.
There is something still so magical about this album and I'm glad I haven't
discovered it yet. |

Get Disowned
My brother-in-law gave me a cd with "Hop Along" and "Treasure Fleet" on it. I
never made it past track 10 (there were 21 tracks on the cd) because I kept on
rewinding it back to the beginning. I don't know if Treasure Fleet is any good
because I am still jamming out this album. Hop Along is a raw and electric pop-
punk album. They shake it up and don't stick to a typical pattern, which makes it so irresistible to listen to, because
sometimes I forget whats going to come next and
that brings a lot of joy. |

Teenage Haze
I am always very conflicted writing anything about hardcore music (even genre-
fying it freaked me out) because the fan base is so ruthless -- one minor slip up
and the author is fucked. Either way, I fucking loved this album. I remember
streaming it and sitting through the whole thing. This year I needed Departures
because it reminded me that I still have fists and sometimes I just need to stand up
for my self. |

The Very Best of Otis Redding
One of the first LPs I bought in Cambridge was the Otis Redding Live in London with
Eddie Floyd and the Markeys. One of the best fucking purchases of my life. Otis
Redding is one of those guys who can turn a shitty day into a fucking sunburst of
self confidence. Thank you Otis. |

I cranked this on when ever I decided to write in my journal. It ended up making
my journal make as much sense as Vernons lyrics, but was one of those albums
that became extremely therapeutic. |

In The Pit Of the Stomach
I road tripped up to New York to see these guys play on September 11th and what
an adventure it was. It was filled with girls from the past, a smoke bandit on the
Megabus and road trip bliss. This album is perfect for those waiting to tap into
multiple recesses of the emotional brain. |

On The Impossible Past
Being 24 I still have a lot of pent up aggression. Haven't land the job of my dreams
and still haven't found the girl. The Menzingers encapsulate all those thoughts of
self-doubt and agony, turned them into a punk ballad and allowed myself to be okay
with just saying "Fuck-it!". |

After the "Touch The Sky" EP I thought Radical Face couldn't do any better, but he
proved me wrong. It's definitely a road trip classic now. |

The Things We've Grown To Love
I studied abroad this year in Cambridge, England. While I was there, another foreign student (aka American) gave me this
album. She was originally from Ohio
and All The Day Holiday was one of her favorites from that area. I remember
falling in love with the album after the first time I listened to it on my way to class.
Instead of missing my home back in the States I had grown to love England and I
still do to this day. |

Control
This will always be my favorite Pedro album and there is a good reason why it is
#1 for the year, because it's good to have options. I live in a small town in
Tennessee and I am originally from California. TN has grown on me, but some nights
I drive around listening to this album anticipating the day when I finally call it quits
on the south. |
