DarkSideOfLucca
01.29.22 | Then can I just live in your house once you buy it? |
Scoot
01.29.22 | you guys should check out what's happening north of the border
$1.5 million cdn gets you a teardown in toronto/vancouver |
MrSirLordGentleman
01.29.22 | Ahh buying a house, congrats buddy!, that's probably the final goal for many
Over here you are lucky to be able to afford the rent on a 45m2 apartment. Buying a house is simply not possible haha. Glad to see you achieved that! |
Keyblade
01.29.22 | "you guys should check out what's happening north of the border

that's okay I can just ren...oh |
Egarran
01.29.22 | Ah good to see you Lucca.
Give us a pic of your purchase so we can judge you. |
JKing92
01.29.22 | It's funny -- I still haven't lived alone in a house yet, even though I haven't lived with my parents for almost five years now (I've lived in two apartments since then). |
Snake.
01.29.22 | "I can't believe that I'm actually old enough to buy a house on Long Island now."
so you're like upwards of 60 right? |
trilo
01.30.22 | grats boss. i bought one last year - moved in october. the process is stressful as frick but once it’s all said and done it’s a great feeling. |
evilford
01.30.22 | Congrats lucca. I am also looking at getting a house with a good buddy in the next year. Used to have a house with my ex-wife (then my wife).
It's a stressful process but SO worth it in the end |
DarkSideOfLucca
02.01.22 | @Scoot - yeah man, the market is absolutely awful in NY. Really wish I could wait until it was more affordable, but unfortunately life didn't really work out that way so I have to get a permanent place now. The prices are awful, though.
@Egarran - will do man m/ cannot wait to be boring suburban dog man.
@Jk - it's not that weird man, I'm in my thirties and this is my first home. A lot of my friends still don't have houses, most people I know are just in apartments.
@Snake - yah I should have just moved into a retirement community
@Captain - m/
Trilo - thats awesome! And yeah man, it's insanely stressful at the moment aha - moved everything in old apartment into storage, temporarily staying in manhattan while driving back and forth to the island every couple of days. Never sleeping again apparently, can't wait to actually relax in a home
@evil - That's awesome, man! Good luck to both of us |

02.01.22 | Moved into my own place last year, RIP to any and all of your savings bruh, enjoy the freedom though. |
DarkSideOfLucca
02.01.22 | Yeah I think I'm going all the way to 0 lol, hopefully nothing breaks immediately or I become rich and famous the day I move in. |
trilo
02.01.22 | def make sure you have some savings leftover. shit will inevitably break and you’re on the hook for it. i moved into a new home w/ brand new appliances and my dishwasher had issues the first week and it needed to be fixed. granted its under warranty so the fix was free but if you’re moving into an older home you’ll want a fallback for repairs. dont wanna end up house poor! |
Hyperion1001
02.01.22 | also, learn how to fix things yourself. it’s a thousand times cheaper and always results in better work.
recently moved into a house that needed a lot of fixing and my dad and I did most of the work ourselves. probably added thousands of dollars in value for just the cost of materials.
unless it’s plumbing fuck plumbing lmao leave that one to the professionals. |
DarkSideOfLucca
02.01.22 | Shit, I'm gonna have to learn a lot. My dad raised me on "I dunno, just call x guy to do it professionally"
And $0 was an exaggeration, but yeah I'm going to have to empty out a lot of my funds aha |
trilo
02.01.22 | contractors are fine but you really gotta vet them before hiring. used to be an electrician and worked for a rat shop. we cut a lot of corners to save on cost/time lol. youtube will be your friend for a lot of handyman tasks tho
also dont forget about closing costs!! |
