foxblood
06.15.18 | there are so many more, I might do another part in the future. there are so many of these bands and still a million I have never heard.
included some stuff from 2010 and a few things from 2011 |
bloc
06.15.18 | Man going through this list brings a lot of memories. Used to be into this stuff quite a bit. |
foxblood
06.15.18 | grindcore with 8-bit nintendo noises. it was all the rage on myspace for a year or two and died. have you heard HORSE the band aiwaz? |
SandwichBubble
06.15.18 | 20!!! I found them on myspace. Don't know about the rest of these though |
foxblood
06.15.18 | right on bloc 👍 |
foxblood
06.15.18 | ha 20 def seems like a band you would dig sandwich, that's how I found them too they're cool |
foxblood
06.15.18 | DUDE check HORSE the band - Desperate Living and prepare yourself for a 5/5. lol yeah it's pretty ridiculous in a great way. |
foxblood
06.15.18 | HORSE the band basically created the genre and that's prob their best album, definitely the most polished. most nintendocore is more grindy than them though |
foxblood
06.15.18 | whoop!! no problem. Arrive is one of the greatest things ever |
Sinternet
06.15.18 | i think you mean rape escape is the greatest ever
i'm actually ashamed I know 90% of these (well not really but you catch my drift), will take a peep at some I ain't heard |
Sinternet
06.15.18 | also holy shit I forgot about 78
they were an interesting bunch |
dbizzles
06.15.18 | These are about 20-25% good. I've heard almost all of these. |
foxblood
06.15.18 | yeah I know you prob know a lot of these sin, like some/hate some. I actually like 78 they are cool, most people hate them but I think they're kinda unique. I was really into them for a second. tbh the only albums I don't like on this list are 25 and 40.
top soundoff on 26 always gets me, so true |
Sinternet
06.15.18 | 40 is great but yeah 25 is holy shit that band sucked
i like about ha;lf of the ones i know and then there's some where they're kinda ironically good or just have a nostalgia factor, 78 falls into that category for me tbh |
dbizzles
06.15.18 | ye boi! |
GmemberKills
06.15.18 | holy shit this list is amazing. i swear your knowledge of music never ceases to blow me away. I'm aware of over half of these in one way or another, but definitely still a bunch i've never heard of that look like some real gems.
If you get time you should check out penknifelovelife their discog is small but their track porphyria's lover is one of my favorites songs from this period.
Also some other releases are confide - shout the truth (has to be the og release tho) and disfigured elegance - the last disease (has the same vocalist from beheading of king) |
dbizzles
06.15.18 | Confide was so close to being good for me lol.
Also, gonna find that Shemales album if its nintendocore. |
GmemberKills
06.15.18 | I still really dig confides first album, it's super solid christian core and the drumming/ vocals rule. Everything else after was mostly trash though |
foxblood
06.15.18 | thanks gmember! I've heard the name penknifelovelife but haven't heard them yet. idk confide. There are still some more obscure bands I need to remember, there are so many lost to time that I can't remember the names for. |
dbizzles
06.15.18 | I need to check my ipod. I'm sure it has some that would fit in here.
|
GmemberKills
06.15.18 | honestly a lot of bands on this list were like one album wonders for one reason or another
checking 'the jonbonet' now really cool stuff. reminds me of a another obscure band called 'von wolfe'.
|
GmemberKills
06.15.18 | you should hook up me with those local band myspace rips if you can fox, just so someone else can listen/preserve them. I found a band last year on myspace that only put out a three song demo that ruled so hard, i'm so thankful I ripped their songs before myspace blasted all their music history away. |
dbizzles
06.15.18 | The scene was so oversaturated with similar bands that it was hard for a many of these bands to stand out at all. |
Sinternet
06.15.18 | jonbenet are definitely one of the best of the bunch good pick |
foxblood
06.15.18 | G check the song 'Behold, The White Whore' off The Jonbenet - The Plot Thickens. that song was one of my favorites for years, classic. I'll do that when I can dude, maybe put them on mediafire or something.
@dbizzles what's funny is that despite the saturation at the time, after the scene died all this stands out soo much from anything modern |
dbizzles
06.15.18 | No kidding. All these genres and they still fit under myspace/whitebelt together lol. |
GmemberKills
06.15.18 | Will do, and that would be great
one thing that sticks out from this era is the production is way better to my ears, maybe it's just my preference, but most core bands that are somehow still standing in the ashes of this scene that put out a album these days is most of the time laughably overproduced. |
TheSpirit
06.15.18 | Amazing list. Love so many of these. |
dbizzles
06.15.18 | @gmember I get you. Granted some of these have production that was just loud and grating, but I think the big difference is it seems that a lot of these bands would just plug and play/record with the mentality of just making sure you can hear every instrument (sometimes not the bass and sometimes with electronics being louder than necessary) whereas today they fucking adjust everything they can and leave shit muddled up. |
foxblood
06.15.18 | yeah modern core production with djent influence is an absolute no go for me. it's so sterile and dead |
KingDweedle
06.15.18 | Of Machines and Crimson Armada rule beyond what is fathomable. |
brainmelter
06.15.18 | perfection |
SteakByrnes
06.15.18 | Good list, forgot about a lot of these bands |
Sharkattack
06.15.18 | Haha I like about 10% of this very nice |
foxblood
06.15.18 | thanks dudes, glad u like brainmelter.
agreed, of machines is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. same vocalist is singing on 4, it's a very unknown classic |
G0atC0re
06.16.18 | DUDE! How did you find my iTunes playlist from when I was 14?????? Creepy..... |
foxblood
06.16.18 | hehe ;) |
RippingCorpse1986
06.16.18 | Loooool this list.
Settle the Sky's EP (THIS COULD SCARE YOU) is missing. |
foxblood
06.16.18 | looks good I'll check it |
Get Low
08.03.18 | This is pretty much the official Myspace-core master list. Subbed. |
Trebor.
08.03.18 | so much terrible artwork |
foxblood
08.03.18 | I like all the art. I'll do a part 2 eventually as well, there's too much I missed |
Sharkattack
03.07.20 | Good times |
parksungjoon
03.07.20 | ughhhh 77 |
GmemberKills
03.07.20 | this list is classic. srry i never hooked you up with my myspace gems.... |
parksungjoon
03.07.20 | also i knew a guy who liked abigail williams while also acting like a hardass metalhead
tho to be fair thats prob one of the least bad bands on this list |
Uzumaki
03.07.20 | I gotta look some of these up now lol. |
Get Low
03.07.20 | One of the most important lists on Sput. |
Emim
03.08.20 | I wonder how many of these I limewired |
TheSpirit
06.09.20 | this list passes the vibe check |
oltnabrick
12.07.20 | this deserved a feature |
Brabiz
12.07.20 | The least aesthetically pleasing movement in all of music. Just makes me feel gross to listen to. |
SteakByrnes
12.07.20 | shout out |
JohnnyoftheWell
12.07.20 | featured posthumously |
SteakByrnes
12.07.20 | Lmao hell yea |
Uzumaki
12.07.20 | Hell yeah |
Laen
02.16.22 | incredible list |
SteavisButthead
08.23.22 | Definitely need Beneath The Sky, As Blood Runs Black, Waking The Cadaver and Job For A Cowboy. |
Josh D.
08.23.22 | Not quite like most of these, but I found out about The Human Abstract on there and hyped them here in like 2004 or 2005 or something. This is when they had the singer before that bad one they made their first two albums with. I had a review for their debut on here once upon a time. |
ConcubinaryCode
08.23.22 | I still love a lot of these |
foxblood
08.23.22 | there are definitely a lot more bands I could include.. it does feel incomplete without Waking The Cadaver lol |
foxblood
08.23.22 | The Human Abstract are another one that could be on the list, I think I left it off because their best release is 2011 |
vult
08.23.22 | Lotsa nostalgic stuff on this holy moly |
vult
08.23.22 | 6, 10, 22 and 50 are best on here with an honorable mention to 54 because ya boi Kurt Travis is on it |
Mort.
08.23.22 | 54 is overlooked as fuck yeah
still holds up, genuinely good emo/post-hardcore |
0xME
08.23.22 | 27 is great |
foxblood
08.23.22 | I listened to 42 a million times in the car on a burned cd about 13 years ago. I memorized all the lyrics back then because it's a good album to sing along to. I haven't really heard it in about 10 years now, I'm a little afraid the nostalgia will hit like a truck |
vult
08.24.22 | Some suggestions for a future list (if you would like suggestions):
Sky Eats Airplane - Self-Titled (Post-Hardcore/Nintendocore)
Insert Disc - Disc Read Error (Nintendocore)
Iwrestledabearonce - Selftitled EP (grind)
Drop Dead, Gorgeous - In Vogue (metalcore)
The Devil Wears Prada - Plagues (christian metalcore)
For Today - Breaker (metalcore)
Oceano - Depths (deathcore)
We Came As Romans - To Plant A Seed (post-hardcore)
A Plea for Purging - Depravity (christian deathcore) |
Purpl3Spartan
04.19.23 | lot of bangers on this list |
Mort.
04.19.23 | a lot of bangers and truly heinous crap |
Demon of the Fall
04.19.23 | 77 has an interesting album title
I wonder how easy it would be to filter this list by titles / artwork into 'sort of good shit' - I'm thinking this may be a possibility
Heard of many, actually heard very few of these (didn't ever myspace, so anything I have checked will either be from elsewhere, or received enough recognition back then / since that they were on my radar).
|
izakaya
04.19.23 | think I've only ever heard 2 albums on this list
probably cause I was a bebo kid back in the day |
