Sure, the best way to act is to not give a damn, but I do agree with the listmaker that there is an unwarranted amount of hostility towards new users. Because what you originally quoted from me was in concrete context, where I stated my opinion that the problem does not lie in elitism, as many people believe. The part you decided to specifically quote was to emphasize that there are many users who are willing to share their large knowledge about music (and offer recommendations) with others, and that also includes newcomers. Of course, when you took that sentence out of the context it was written, it made me look like I was judging people based on their music taste, while all I actually did was offer my 2 cents.
