My Top 5 Albums (at The Moment)

These are my top 5 right now. It changes all the time but here it goes
1Moving Mountains
Pneuma

Cover the Roots, Lower the Stems and 8105 are of the best songs I've ever heard
and the entire album just makes for a fantastic post hardcore album. I love the
mixing in that the lead singer's voice soars above the massive wall of sound that
the rest of the band creates and his semi-strained sounding upper range is just
amazingly emotional.
2Brand New
The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me

One of the most depressing albums I've heard but the loud/soft dynamics as well as
Jesse's dark, blunt lyrics make this album amazing. Luca, Sowing Season, Handcuffs
and Welcome to Bangkok are among my favorites although the entire album is
spectacular.
3La Dispute
Somewhere at the Bottom of the River...

Musicianship is amazing and really keeps the feel of the album going (that is
desperate with oscillations from anger to sadness) and Jordan's lyrics are very
poetic. Also his ability to change the volume of his voice at such a wide range
really communicates the changes in emotion that occur in the album.
4Bear vs. Shark
Terrorhawk

I love their use of dissonance in chords. The drumming is also some of the best I've
heard both in the quality of the beats and the skill in executing them (specifically
how he can vary the speed of the same line so seamlessly). The singer's raspy
shouting voice is also fits very well with the music and I enjoy his ability to vary his
vocal tonality such as the change from a soft voice to loud screaming in Baraga
Embankment.
5I Hate Myself
10 Songs

Horribly, horribly recorded album. And that's what makes it spectacular. The
graininess in the background really adds to the clean (well they would be clean if it
wasn't for the awful recording) guitars. The lyrics are great in the sense that they
are different than most albums because they describe what in most ways should be
a fun ideal summer that turns depressing instead of a total onslaught of a story
about a depressing life which adds a new dimension to the lyrics. In addition, the
variation in the vocals from a soft croon to out of key shouting to loud screams
makes for a very interesting listening experience.
