The Day I Touched The National's Singer
So tonight I saw The National and Portugal. The Man. in the Greek Theatre. It was crazy how much energy these guys put into the seemingly somber songs they are so well known for. They turned it up to eleven, and even made me love their newer albums, as I was very partial to Alligator and Boxer. During their encore when they played Mr. November, Matt Berninger went all the way to halfway out in the theatre and walked right through my aisle! I got to hug him! So cool. Anyways, this concert was definitely something special, as I have been listening to The National for years. If any of you are indecisive about whether or not to buy tickets, I highly recommend you do.
Trouble Will Find Me
I loved the songs they played live, but I simply enjoy the other albums better!
This album was always good in my opinion, but little did I know it was THIS good. Bloodbuzz Ohio was spectacular.
Probably their best album, and they played several songs from Boxer, some of which were Fake Empire and Apartment Story
Simple, yet cleverly written and so fun
sounds awesome, would love to see these guys live
coppin' a feel to feels
No comment on how Portugal were? come on dude
Sorry! Portugal was great as well, but the set was short and while the musicianship was top notch, they were not as fun or captivating. They played the music and played it well, but there was nothing really extra. That's just my view because I am partial to The National. The crowd and most of my friends who went enjoyed their performance as well, however.
Fair enough was just wondering
Hey I've touched Berninger too, we are basically Eskimo brothers now.
PS The National is one of the best live bands going around, glad you loved it man!
Oh my God, I was inches away, I couldn't reach. I was like 2nd or third row when I saw them in 2010. When he came down during Abel I almost almost touched him. The guy in front of me was able to grab his vest. I was so close. One day though...
he did the same thing in Vancouver last year (during Mr. November) and the cord from his mic clothlined dozens of people. These guys are legendary live, seeing them for the third time in a month!
And the bells were ringin'!
He walked through me and my friends singing Terrible Love trying to create a mosh, was pretty epic. Then he did an acoustic crowd singalong to Vanderlye, was pretty dope. was sad I didn't take a pic, but some chick on youtube posted a video and me and my other 6'4" buddies are just standing there for 10 seconds with big goofy grins on our face.
It's awesome how many of us were there! So much fun, won't forget last night!
To clarify, I wasn't there.
I wouldn't mind touching him...
