05.14.10 | whoah 5 days...you're ancient. you have some tastes similar to mine, so i could give you a huge list of recs but im too tired...but right now i've been digging The Midnight Organ Flight by Frightened Rabbit and Bright Eyes in general |

IllPromiseYouThat
05.14.10 | Not expecting the indie folk stuff sowingseason. It takes me a little longer to get into stuff like this. I got both. Interesting |
Sowing

05.14.10 | If you like Protest the Hero, you should check out:
-The rest of PTH's catalog
-Between the Buried and Me (all albums are good but "Colors", "Alaska", and "The Silent Circus" are favorites)
-The Human Abstract ("Nocturne" is FAR better than "Midheaven", but both are worth a look)
-I Am Abomination (Both albums are solid, heavy electronic influence)
-The Fall of Troy (Much more spastic and chaotic, but features Rody of PTH on the new album. Also "Phantom on the Horizon" is their best, followed by "Doppelgänger", "Manipulator", self-titled, and the mediocre "In the Unlikely Event".
General recommendations not necessarily PTH related:
-Periphery-AMAZING band that sounds a lot like Meshuggah (who I despise) but with a lot more melody, singing, and top-notch songwriting. Like PTH every member is virtuosic at his instrument
-Woe of Tyrants-Heavy Death Metal band that sounds more like classic death metal than most bands today-great, catchy guitar lines, especially on "Kingdom of Might"
-Closure in Moscow-Both albums are great progressive rock with a jazz/funk influence. Excellent guitar lines abound here.
-Dance Gavin Dance-Amazing vocals (on "Downtown Battle Mountain" more so than the others), catchy songs, semi-technical guitar/drum playing, BRILLIANT songwriting. Post-hardcore with an increasingly heavy jazz influence. Check them out for sure. |

05.14.10 | Sorry for the double post, I forgot to mention Opeth, who you are sure to encounter if you stick around Sputnik long enough as everyone here loves, or professes, to love them. Their best album, IMO, is "Blackwater Park", though "Ghost Reveries" would be a good starting point as well. Sorry agian for the double post. |

The Gaslight Anthem - 'The '59 Sound'
Dredg - 'El Cielo'
Billy Talent - 'Billy Talent'
Manchester Orchestra - 'Mean Everything To Nothing'
And to expand on SowingSeason's awesome rec's:
Thrice - 'Vheissu'
Anberlin - 'Cities'
Deftones - 'White Pony'
Muse - 'Origin of Symmetry' or 'Absolution'
A Perfect Circle - 'Thirteenth Step'
Emery - 'The Question' or '...In Shallow Seas We Sail'
Incubus - 'Morning View'
Minus The Bear - 'Planet of Ice'
