Weirdly i hear it more when I put earplugs in at shows so I just don't use them. Obviously you can't measure how bad one person's is to the next. I also have 'tinnitis of the eyes' too. Yay. CugnoBrasso 09.01.23	A friend of mine told me that some concerts are EQed to make them sound good while wearing ear plugs. I don't know if that's true, but when I saw the Mars Volta in June I did find the sound to be a bit harsh without ear plugs. I usually pick up the ones they've got at the bar, I don't think I ever bought them.

Because you don't have ambient sounds to block out the ringing, but you're just making it worse. Wear ear protection and deal with it, you got a lot of road left. Jasdevi087 09.02.23	I've got a pair of Zildjian ones that were pretty good at a smaller venue. didn't really change the sound much, it just blocks out all the hiss from the extreme frequencies, you can still feel how loud it is, you just don't take it straight to the eardrums not used them at a bigger venue though.

PotsyTater 09.02.23	I like Loops. I have two pairs, the quiet and the experience I think. You’d probably want the experience plus ones for this purpose. They have acoustic channels specifically intended for music and events and you can put inserts inside to block the channels if you want additional decibel protection. I’ve never used either pair for events but yeah they are good.

Had tinnitus for a year before nurse cleaned out a ball of wax and suddenly I had crystal clear 4kHD bluray REMUX hearing with no tinnitus. Not uncommon fun fact: the owner of Texas Roadhouse restaurant franchise deleted his sys32 over his tinnitus

MeatSalad 09.02.23	I think that's not always true but probably applies when you're hearing music that sounds like a reiteration on something you've heard before, which most of us can probably say is at least half of the music we've heard. It's a tough cognitive bias that sometimes makes new music hard to appreciate but I think that's what leads some of us to listen to some really esoteric shit (which is a good thing usually)
botb 09.02.23	I got mine checked after a bout with vertigo a couple years ago and somehow mine is still really good. I didn’t wear ear protection at shows until I was like 23 or 24 and I’ve been going since I was 15. I have some basic ringing that sticks around sometimes but it’s very faint and idk if that’s tinnitus or just something that people normally experience from time to time.

Deez 09.02.23	My hearings fine(may not be in 10 years) but had Tinnitus for decades. Hasn't got any worse (yet) been to hundreds and hundreds of shows. I just don't like how it sounds with earplugs and as I said it actually makes my Tinnitus hearable(?) With them in at shows. So the very rare times I've tried them I just take them out, Fk it.

AlexKzillion 09.03.23	tbh i bought a big box of the cheap foam ear plugs from cvs for $15 and it works perfectly for me... allows me to still go in the pit and not be scared they're gonna be lodged in my ears too far or care if i inevitably lose them (i typically bring like three pairs if i know there's gonna be a pit)

I remember thinking 'hmm, should really get some plugs next time, that gig was loooooooud' but being young, drunk and stupid, that thought exited my head the moment my ears stopped ringing. This then only occurred to me the next time I was at a gig and thus the last minute 'solution' of putting toilet paper in there seemed logical at the time, lol I want to make it clear that I'm not actually recommending anyone do this
