| Music's Tidal Wave Effect?
I was thinking today, sorry, and I can recall knowing my music a lot more when I was a ryounger, more casual music fan than I do now. To me, it seems the internet's tidal wave of rnew artists and rrelatively easy ways for me to get a hold of just about any album I want - rstream or stolen, whichever - has kind of given me this vague disinterest and feeling of rlaziness whenever I come across ra new album that I listen to. Like, I don't feel compelled to rreally get to know the music like I used to when music was much more difficult for me to rcome by, if only because I can't wait to pounce ron something new and fresh just as the prior ralbum may have just about to begin settling, or something. Has this happened to anyone relse? This may be an old topic, and if so, I apologize. | 1 | | Hey Rosetta! 08.03.11 | Digs, otherwise. There's some good stuff worth checking out here if no one's heard of them.
Not sure what's up with the 'r's in the description . . . | YetAnotherBrick
08.04.11 | I know EXACTLY what you're talking about, which is exactly why I try to download music as little as I can. | Mewcopa0
08.04.11 | yeah i used to do that, but i just adjusted by devoting more time to listening to music. or i download things and wait a couple months til i get to them. | Blackbelt54
08.04.11 | I know what you're talking about. I download too much music. It's like I'm jaded or something. | IrishJay91
08.04.11 | hey, I'm listening to 4 right now.
Yea I know what you mean. I did the same thing and ended up with a couple hundred albums I had downloaded and never listened to... it was pretty dumb. | Crowe
08.04.11 | Mmhmm, I was sometimes suspicious of those that had these massive numbers of album ratings, with like ten new ones each day, if something like this was going on. Of course music listening is subjective, but I still think albums deserve as much time and devotion as they used to - at least the well-made ones, anyway. | Killahit
08.04.11 | you were thinking today?
What did I tell you about that | Crowe
08.04.11 | Are you an alt. of that guy who told me I was wrong about Smothers in my shout-out box?
You remind me of that guy. | Killahit
08.04.11 | Who? I don't even know you dude | Crowe
08.04.11 | Well obviously you do, since you've apparently told me not to think before. | GnarlyShillelagh
08.04.11 | 8 is the shit man | IrishJay91
08.04.11 | @Crowe yea its really a terrible way to listen to (and rate) music, but i badly needed to clean out my library. it was a huge mistake to download and never listen to that much music, and there was no good way to (efficiently) fix it. | Crowe
08.04.11 | I understand, man, as I've had to do similar things in the past too. It's no wonder it took me so long to get into Radiohead, thinking about it. | Killahit
08.04.11 | Dude it was a joke. Get it? | dimsim3478
08.04.11 | I've been thinking about this recently. I've been building up my collection going through all these different artists, and I seem to have more interest in getting artists as opposed to listening to them. I really just want to slow down and get to know all this new stuff. | Crowe
08.04.11 | Yes, Killahit, I laughed. Settle down, dude.

08.04.11 | I don't know, I don't really have that problem. Even if I don't listen to albums for a certain time, sometimes it's just like "duh, this shit is like.. REALLY good." | Crowe
08.04.11 | Oh yeah, there's certainly albums like that, but in general, especially with 'growers', I don't give them enough time unless I consciously force myself. |
