02.28.10 | jester race and Ghost Reveries. |

02.28.10 | Everyone's going to rec the best In Flames album, which is The Jester Race. My advice is if you've been around the block of metal many times and are into really good old school stuff then hit that up first. Otherwise if you want to start with the most easily get into album and want to start with something other then the best so everything from there goes down hill then I'd say like before go with Clayman. Personally I like to save the best albums of a band for later but thats me. |
GnarlyShillelagh
02.28.10 | Opeth wtf In Flames is way worse.
And Duderino's post refers to the following albums, in case the names are foreign to you:
Disillusion - Back to Times of Splendor
Cynic - Focus
Both of which are excellent albums, although I'd probably suggest Traced In Air over Focus. I think it's a bit easier to get into and I definitely like it better. |

02.28.10 | Ghost Reveries for Opeth. |
Masochist
02.28.10 | Wait, wait. It's gotta be 'Colony' for #1 to start out with. |
JWT155
02.28.10 | That's another good choice too. |

02.28.10 | If you're not really into metal, than avoid Opeth for right now, as well as early In Flames. If you want to start, here's where you start:
In Flames- Soundtrack to Your Escape; Come Clarity; Reroute to Remain
Opeth- Still Life's a great place to start, but check out Ghost Reveries |

02.28.10 | ^did u just seriously rec soundtrack to your escape? watruafag?
correct response is clayman. |
GnarlyShillelagh
02.28.10 | lmfao intothepit.
Also, if you can't seem to get into Opeth, keep trying until you do. It's a band that gets better and better every time you listen to it. And if it's still hard for you, just listen to Damnation. Not a single harsh vocal on that album. |
coneren
02.28.10 | I started with clayman and still life |
intothepit83
02.28.10 | lol, if you read the whole comment gnarly and theacademy, i wasn't rec'ing their best considering that it isn't easy for someone to take in, hence the first sentence in that post, "If you're not really into metal, than Avoid Opeth right now, as well as early In Flames."
Fucking fanny bandits |
GnarlyShillelagh
02.28.10 | And if you listened to any of those albums, you would realize that the only reason anybody should ever listen to any of them is if they're trying to jack up their objectivity scores. |
intothepit83
02.28.10 | lol, and if you must know, that's how I got my lil brother into metal was introducing him to stuff that's a lil easier on the ears. now he's into the heaviest shit he can find. you don't just throw someone into shit they've never really listened to before, otherwise they might get turned off and never listen to it again. you don't tell someone who's asking for where to start with Converge to start with "Jane Doe," especially if they don't listen to much metal. |
JWT155
02.28.10 | I think me and you pit are the only people here who understand that concept. That's how I got into metal. Don't believe anyone woke up one day and decided to listen to Slayer that never listened to "Metal" in the first place. |
intothepit83
02.28.10 | And I though people listened to shitty albums from good bands because they WERE fans of that band. if you listen to music just to "jack up your objectivity scores," then stop listening to music. It hasn't a purpose in your life anymore |
JWT155
02.28.10 | Objectivities stupid because it's based on the premise that music collectively is made up of the same amount of ratings 1-5. Basically out of all your albums you rate should have an equal amount of ratings or the mean should be 2.5 which is bullshit. |

02.28.10 | come clarity. |

02.28.10 | Theacademy- you making fun of someone's rec's is like a kid with down syndrome insulting the intelligence of a Rhodes Scholar. |
Consigliere
02.28.10 | This is old news. Now SM likes to shit on Opeth in every opportunity they have ( well, most of the members anyways ), its that shitty band Converge they jerk off on now. Ignore them though, go for Still Life and Blackwater Park, they are amazing. |
Alucard125
02.28.10 | In Flames - Colony/Clayman
