| Too Deep For You

Monoliths and Dimensions
Ahh Drone music, my favourite album by my current favourite band. Theres just something very special/spiritual about a couple of guys holding down single power chords for minutes at a time. Call me crazy but I find this album fantastic. | | 2 |  | The Gerogerigegege
Tokyo Anal Dynamite
This album holds a special place in my heart as it helped me find faith in the Japanese music scene, before this I thought it was all about J-Rock and J-Pop which is a lot more disturbing than the mainstream music scene in the western world. This band showed me that in Japan there are definitely crazy people that can release an album 75 tracks long consisting of some of the best noise-core Ive ever come across. | | 3 | | Philip Glass
Solo Piano
Philip Glass is a well known minimalist composer for the piano. This album contains his metamorphosis compositions, mad rush and Wichita Sutra Vortex. This whole album is around fifty minutes long and really doesn't contain much variation. His song 'mad rush' which is 13 minutes long is based around three different chords and still manages to be interesting through a huge amount of expressiveness and rubato, his sudden pauses in the middle of the piece are then followed by flowing, appregiated major 7th chords which effectively transport the listener to another place, a nice place. | | 4 | | Igor Stravinsky
The Rite of Spring
Stravinsky was a trail blazer, his first performance of 'The Rite of Spring' was a disaster. The piece was completely atonal and from the opening few bars of the bassoon solo the audience was outraged. A riot started and rumor has it Igor left the amphitheater in tears at the public's reaction. Turns out his audience was accustomed to the more conventional forms of composition. The second movement of the piece is what I sometimes privately refer to as 'a romantic era breakdown'. The movement has the string section 'chugging' and accenting on the off beats with beautiful poltonalities (C major over F# Major) that still make everyone cower in fear even almost 100 years on. | | 5 |  | Cromagnon
Orgasm
This album is the most messed up on the list, while the others may seem a little quirky and hard to listen to, this album is just plain psychotic. Coined in 1969 the title track 'Caledonia' is said to be the first example of black metal. The free folk disjointedness and drums are accompanied by bagpipes which brings images of folk metal and other very kvlt things. Its also considered by many to be the only real song on the album. Truly revolutionary for its time. | |
