| Best Metal Albums Of The Last 10 Years
I tend to favor Melodic Metal with excellent musicianship, good Lyrics, screamed and/or clean vocals that packs a punch. SO if you like your Metal Melodic, kick ass and thought provoking with some serious musical prowess check these albums out! | | 1 | | In Flames Clayman
This album is everything that is good about metal. Good lyrics, amazing guitar riffage, and a heavy sound you will never forget! | | 2 | | Unearth The Oncoming Storm
These guys simply kick ass! The Lyrics are top notch and every song is amazing. | | 3 | | Mudvayne The End of all things to come
This album began my ascent into metaldom. Some of the best lyrics, song structure, and musicianship in metal. This album has a different sound than most other metal. Very unique. | | 4 | | In Flames Reroute to Remain
If you take away the first 3 songs this album is a+ from top to bottom. In Flames starting to experiment into more electronic sounds to accompany the swedes signature metal excellence. | | 5 | | All That Remains The Fall of Ideals
This is more Pop metal, but metal none the less! Oli Herbert is on of the best metal guitarists to ever shred. This is a good entry album into the metal scene. | | 6 | | Unearth III: In the Eyes of Fire
Another great album from one of the mest bands in the "Metalcore" category. Songs like "Glorious Nightmare", "March of the Mutes", "Giles", "Sanctity of Brothers", and "So it goes" really shine. | | 7 | | All That Remains This Darkened Heart
This was ATR before they became more pop. Some excellent song writing by Oli Herbert. Give " I Die in Degrees" a listen! | | 8 | | Soilwork Stabbing the Drama
Man, Gothenburg kicks ass! "Speed" may have the best vocals in modern metal. Some seriously catchy tunes on this one! | | 9 | | In Flames Come Clarity
2007 saw a return to the formula that made In Flames one of the best. "Crawl through Knives", "Reflect the Storm", "Take this Life", and "Come Clarity" are all reminiscent of the In Flames of old. | | 10 | | As I Lay Dying An Ocean Between Us
Rounding out my list is the extremely solid AOBU. The title track is a sweet piece of sonic excellence! | |

08.03.09 | I'm a fan of all of these albums. I don't know if I would include them all (if any) in the greatest metal albums of the last decade, but they're all good, fosho. 'Cept maybe Mudvayne lol. Most peeps on here are not going to like 'em, though. Just a warning. | FadeToBlack
08.03.09 | Virus (Hypocrisy) is an essential melodeath classic. | Jesuslaves
08.03.09 | I've never understood how you can like Come Clarity and diss A Sense Of Purpose. Pretty similar albums, and the former is a lot closer to mainstream angst-metal than the latter (since, you know, that seems to be the only argument ever made in that regard). | thebbqshrimp
08.03.09 | At The Gates -- Slaughter of the Soul would also be an essential melodeath classic. | Unbeliever03
08.03.09 | Thanks for the comments!
The End of all things to Come was a stretch i know. People should give it a chance though. Excellent album. | Jesuslaves
08.03.09 | Oh, and 5 is excellent. | thebbqshrimp
08.03.09 | (granted, it's more than 10 years old) | BallsToTheWall

08.03.09 | Im currently getting into DT, and ATG is next on my list. Im spending a fortune on all these CD's im ordering from the Swedes! | FadeToBlack
08.03.09 | and now that I've though about it, there's a lack of Blackwater Park too. And imo some Agalloch and Bloodbath wouldn't hurt :P | FadeToBlack
08.03.09 | DT are awesome, which of their albums do you have? | Essence
08.03.09 | this list is so depressing I want to hurt myself | Unbeliever03
08.03.09 | Well, Im planning on doing what i did for IF, and buying every thing they have ever put out at once.
Currently most of the stuff I listen to is off of The Gallery and Character. Some good stuff! | gaslightanthem
08.03.09 | this is so wrong | handoman
08.03.09 | this is bad metal | FadeToBlack
08.03.09 | All DT's albums are good. Their first albums has Anders Friden doing vocals though (and Mikael Stanne does vocals on Lunar Strain, they swapped bands afterwards), don't think he sounds very good on it | Essence
08.03.09 | can you do me a favor; can you add "A Bro's List Of" to the front of your list title? | gaslightanthem
08.03.09 | why have i only just seen this rofl

08.03.09 | them some ugly ass mofos | Unbeliever03
08.03.09 | While i will agree, some of these bands can come across as "Emo" ( Except Unearth. If you think Unearth is Emo your an idiot ) these albums are not. Like I said, I tend to like more Melodic metal that has intelligent lyrics. | Essence
08.03.09 | I'll be addressing the "bro" aspect of Emmure quite soon. | gaslightanthem
08.03.09 | "While i will agree, some of these bands can come across as "Emo" ( Except Unearth. If you think Unearth is Emo your an idiot ) these albums are not. Like I said, I tend to like more Melodic metal that has intelligent lyrics."
do you know what emo is?
and lol which of these bands has intelligent lyrics? | Unbeliever03
08.03.09 | Unearth and Mudvayne probably have the best lyrics. Look up: "Perversion of a Truth, Mercy Severity, Zombie Autopilot, Black Hearts now Reign, " all of which are excellent lyrically.
In Flames is no RUSH when it comes to lyrics, but they aren't bad. Same goes for the rest. | gaslightanthem
08.03.09 | Whispers invoke the artists of this tragically seemless, ill fated tapestry,
blistered fingers are tending their loom.
She collects the strands to braid into life.
Logging the weft of an ageless, woven infinity, countless raw fibers are clawing the frame.
A woman's work is never done, but the final stitch has got to come,
and so three witches contend to slice the very last thread
(that you curse, curse constantly)
But nothing's immortal, and comfort is not guaranteed-
a yearling who bears our sincere passions is chosen, frozen and quivering,
like a thread in the wake of a blade.
So we compromise, so we sacrifice.
Compromise nothing, but that which secures a comfortable life, risk as the indication of a healing sacrifice.
Destroy the altar whose boundaries tides will never exceed, ignite the pyres underneath a sedated mythology.
Five decades his lifetime, and his life's work is just fading scratches in stone.
She tends the numerals, counting fingers, counting her toes.
Keeping track of the time racing, years wasting
(dance to the sound of his weight bearing back breaking)
infinite ages the length of this quilt's making.
And we dance, we dance in the stronghold...
That you curse, curse constantly, of the needle's sheen.
Do you feel this thin strand resting in a pinch?
That's the thread that you curse, curse constantly.
An eternal patch on a quilt that hangs from a wall in a throw frought with our decay...
From six states away, five years of guilt postmarked four days before my escape.
All I ever asked was for a clean break. | Observer
08.03.09 | 9 was in 2006 right? Not 2007.
While I like the song "Come Clarity", I don't see how you can say its anything like the old In Flames. | Unbeliever03
08.03.09 | More like the old in flames than RtR and STYE. A Step in the right direction. | ShadowRemains
01.31.10 | "Pop" and "Metal" should never be in the same sentence together, but this is a good list. Blackwater Park should be in here. | Crysis
01.31.10 | oh my | TheSpirit
01.31.10 | i'm posting in a bumped list |
