12.01.09 | eh that is the only underoath album i really like. but their new stuff is gay i guess. |
DiceMan
12.01.09 | This isn't really all that screamo tbh.. Plus screamo is a retarded term. But if you want real screamo/emo albums check out
Circle Takes The Square
Saetia

Hot Cross
Orchid

12.01.09 | I don't like arguing about genres, but only about four of these are screamo. Great list though, I like all except 1 and 6. |

12.01.09 | what makes something "real" screamo?
and thanks @musicaddition |
DiceMan
12.01.09 | How can you call Underoaths new stuff gay when all they did was take out the shitty wannabe pop scene kid singing and they tightened up their musicianship, and then focused more on the metal part of their musical spectrum? Their new stuff is so much better than their old stuff. |
jrowa001
12.01.09 | but what makes most of these albums on your list screamo? |
PanasonicYouth
12.01.09 | this list made me freaking lmao |
Yordy
12.01.09 | Oh I forgot about Gospel!!!... Very win. |
Prophet178
12.01.09 | Must've been the worst argument ever if this is what you think is screamo. |
brohan
12.01.09 | @jrow i just thought anything that screamed was screamo, i didn't know there was a real genre |
DiceMan
12.01.09 | Honestly, most emotional hardcore/screamo albums have relatively ambiguous lyrics, letting the listener interpret them as they will. The vocals of course, scream. The big stickler is that their instrumentals typically derive themselves from hardcore punk rather than putting really really shitty pop elements into their music. Thats where the general public typically goes wrong.
Oh, and the people typically have really ugly voices which makes it a lot more interesting. Bands like Circle Takes The Square and Saetia and sometimes Hot Cross have a lot of transitions between soft and heavy in their music, but Hot Cross is kind of a more melodic version of Saetia. Definitely check out CTTS though, it's pretty much the greatest album ever. |

GBJ
12.01.09 | funny, the only thing that's really screamo here is 9 even though I hate genre tagging.
Most people pretty much nailed what screamo is, but I'll emphasize
Circle Takes the Square - As the Roots Undo
Saetia - A Retrospective
The Pax Cecilia - Nouveau (Blessed are the Bonds cause it's amazing, though not really screamo)
In the Arms of Providence - Left my Voicebox in a Seaside Town
the Cambiata - Into the Night |
Tulannical
12.01.09 | yeah check out SeaAnemone's recs. lol at profile pic; isn't that from a JohnXDoe thread on the forums? |
GBJ
12.01.09 | and also, to answer your question, I've usually described "real screamo" as "Emo-hardcore music with emphasis on Screamed lyrics" though it's pretty ambiguous. if you check out those albums I listed you'll understand |
SeaAnemone
