12.21.17 | nicee. dude, watch T2. it hit me surprisingly hard, so easy to love if you're a fan of the first trainspotting. also the killing of a sacred deer was excellent |
TheGreatQ
12.21.17 | Raw was excellent, don’t really know why it would be called feminist though. |

12.21.17 | Have you seen or are you planning to see Wind River? |
Gameofmetal
12.21.17 | "Too bad the writing was so bad it made Cara Delevingne feel like she was reading from Natalie Portman's parts in Revenge of the Sith "
uh no that's just cara delevingne, she's just that bad.
as always I'm somewhat puzzled at your taste (now in films instead of metalz!) but cool list anyway. |
Gameofmetal
12.21.17 | "Have you seen or are you planning to see Wind River?"
would recommend this as well, my favorite of the year. |
Sinternet
12.21.17 | superhero movies are a cancer on the industry |
IronGiant
12.21.17 | wanna third Wind River, probably my second favorite movie this year behind the shape of water, which was brilliant. also loved florida project and lego batman |
zaruyache
12.21.17 | it was on my list and everybody loves it but thematically it didn't seem like something i'd love so i didn't include it. Need to check it tho.
"she's just that bad"
no she's lovely u stfu |
TheSupernatural
12.21.17 | Dunkirk was easily my favorite I saw this year. Definitely an odd and one-tone movie for such a major release but that one-tone was so powerful and memorable. The movie's sound was on another level too.
Need to see Lady Bird as a Sacramento native but I somehow skipped on it |
neekafat
12.21.17 | Ugh this is too edgy for me |

12.21.17 | "The climax doesn't exist, but before that crappy ending this was a real nice tension-builder of a spooky movie."
agreed tho |

12.21.17 | "Dunkirk was easily my favorite I saw this year. Definitely an odd and one-tone movie for such a major release but that one-tone was so powerful and memorable. The movie's sound was on another level too."
Completely disagreed. Hands down the worst/most boring war movie I've ever seen. |
DoofusWainwright
12.21.17 | The Thor film was the surprise of the year and quite easily the best Marvel affiliated movie.
Blade Runner still takes my film of the year so far...though I haven’t watched Logan or the new Star Wars.
IT was a bit shit. |
Hawks
12.21.17 | Nah IT rules. |
DoofusWainwright
12.21.17 | Even the original TV series was better imo.
Just sub Goonies fodder devoid of any genuine creepiness for me |
Hawks
12.21.17 | I love the original, but I liked the new one more tbh. Pretty pumped for the second part. I wasn't particularly scared at any point, but I loved the characters and I thought the guy they picked for Pennywise was great. |
InFlamesWeThrash666
12.21.17 | IT was terrible |
Faraudo
12.21.17 | Denis Villeneuve is the new king of everything. Not a dull movie on his catalogue. Also yes, Logan is 1. And no, The Last Jedi is top 5 for me. |
Egarran
12.21.17 | You lost me at that 7 for Life. Damn that was bad. 3/10
Split was pretty good, Anya Taylor-Joy is my fetish.
Lego Batman was so frenetic, but still awesome. I was glad when it ended.
Before I saw Logan I had sworn I would never watch another Wolverine movie, because jfc they are horrendous. But the hype won me over. Turns out I didn't really dig Logan either, so my oath is active again.
Blade Runner, ehhhh it was ok I guess. Nothing in it was amazing.
I liked Get Out the best this year. |
Deathconscious
12.21.17 | I knew The Dark Tower movie would suck. |
Egarran
12.21.17 | Only the best director ever could make a good Stephen King movie. |
Hawks
12.21.17 | "IT was terrible"
You're probably one of those people that went into it expecting it to be terrifying and got mad when it ended up being humorous and so it's "terrible" because you weren't scared. Seems to be a lot of people's problem with it tbh. |
InFlamesWeThrash666
12.21.17 | Not being scary was not my problem. The underdeveloped characters with no background (except maybe for the girl) and the terrible CGI (especially in the beginning when Pennywise attacked the first kid) are the things that annoyed me the most...Plus i'm not a fan of the story. It feels generic dunno |
InFlamesWeThrash666
12.21.17 | The movie got better in the second half though,i have to admit that |
hobblepot
12.21.17 | significant lack of Alien Covenant |
Dewinged
12.21.17 | Blade Runner was sci-fi porn indeed. |
DoofusWainwright
12.21.17 | Alien Covenant was trash |
Egarran
12.21.17 | Why don't they make movies for straight, white males anymore? We still have the money dammit. |
zaruyache
12.22.17 | I wanted to see Covenant bc Katherine Waterson is a dream but I heard it wasn't good so I didn't get round to it :-(
Yeah IT had some bad cgi but it was so bad it was hilarious, and weirdly fitting in a bizarre way imo. |
neekafat
12.22.17 | Covenant was fine but yeah like 6.5 |
robertsona
12.22.17 | You might like The Florida Project |
TheSupernatural
12.25.17 | I think if you found Dunkirk to be boring, war movies probably aren't your thing. They aimed to be excruciatingly accurate in tone and dialogue, and it worked better than any other war movie I've seen.
Saving Private Ryan is what you'd expect a WW2 blockbuster to be, but imo it's just an action movie with a war setting after the first 25 minutes. Dunkirk took the idea behind Band of Brothers and extrapolated that to a single memorable week/day in history. Its appeal is almost entirely visceral. If you want to be entertained by plot rather than feel involved in what you're watching, that's okay. It is an odd choice for a major release but I loved it because of those things. |
cylinder
12.25.17 | I thoroughly enjoyed Baby Driver |
robertsona
12.25.17 | dunkirk sucked butt |
CaimanJesus
12.25.17 | 1922 was a pretty good movie |
swipenet
12.25.17 | Logan was fucking awesome yeah, The Disaster Artist was pretty great as well |
Deathconscious
12.25.17 | just watched Life. while the premise is nothing original, the directing and performances were great. it started out very promising but then the alien lifeform devolved into a stupid space monster, suspense/buildup was forgotten, and plot holes kept adding up. the movie went downhill. still had a decent time watching it, 3/5 for me. |
JeetJeet
12.25.17 | Thought Logan and Dunkirk were both meh as fuck. Definitely overrated. Bladerunner was amazing tho. Logan Lucky was dope too. You should check out Good Time. |
Crymsonblaze
12.25.17 | My top ten:
10. I dunno, maybe LEGO Batman. Or Split. That was also alright.
9. John Wick Chapter 2
8. The Void
7. Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi
6. Guardians of the Galaxy 2
5. IT
4. Baby Driver
3. Logan
2. Get Out
1. The Disaster Artist |
swipenet
12.25.17 | Good list crymson, I agree that Baby Driver Logan and TDA all kicked ass |
swipenet
12.25.17 | Need to see Get Out, 99% goddamn |
Egarran
12.25.17 | Hah I forgot about The Void. Could have been great, but it never clicked for me. |
HalfManHalfAmazing
12.25.17 | I only really saw Logan and Dunkirk (Logan was good but the scene where all the kids gang up on the asshole mutant tracker was really silly). Dunkirk was/is overrated. |
Crymsonblaze
12.25.17 | The Void wasn’t amazing but for the budget, I thought it was really solid |
