03.13.10 | Is there anybody out there...
Sputnik is suppose to love prog (sigh) |
sumyunguy
03.13.10 | I'm here for you buddy. Yes is tied for my favorite band ever. Interesting choices. 1 is 1. I'd have HOTS before SSOTS, awaken much higher, and i wouldn't have perpetual change on there at all. and what about homeworld? surely that song is much better than a venture. |
Jethro42
03.14.10 | Thx for Homeworld sumyunguy. When was this song released? |
sumyunguy
03.14.10 | It's on The Ladder - 1999. Great song. |
ubermensch518
03.22.10 | Nice list -
I was going to comment on the lack of Starship Trooper, but I see you fixed it - though its above Your's in my mind.
I've always thought "The Revealing Science of God / Dance of the Dawn" was the only really solid song on Tales, I'll have to relisten to Ritual
Great call on South of the Sky. |

Please, read the 3rd comment above.

Jethro42
11.15.10 | Owner of a Lonely Heart was mostly composed by the guitarist who replaced Steve Howe, and song is nowhere near a 'classic' Yes song. sorry, Hans. |
Nagrarok
11.15.10 | I'm surprised Time and a Word is so well-presented here, good album but not all too interesting to me (which will be made clear by about-to-be-posted review). Otherwise this is a great selection I have little to add to. I agree with Hans about Owner though, it may be far and far from their classic sound but it's such a classic 80's song. |
Jethro42
11.15.10 | Cant wait either, Nag. I personally think Time and a Word is an improvement over their first effort. |
BigHans
11.15.10 | Owner of a Lonely Heart rules |
Nagrarok
11.15.10 | it does but it doesn't really belong on this list |
BigHans
11.15.10 | List needs moar Steely Dan |
Jethro42
11.15.10 | omg You like Steely Dan, Hans? You're more near to prog than I thought. I might do a list on these guys. |
BigHans
11.15.10 | Yeah I like them, weird because I dont like that much Jazz. But they have some fucking classic songs: RELLIN IN THE YEARS, Peg, Old School, Riki Dont Lose That Number, Black Friday, FM. Love em all. |
theacademy
11.15.10 | Big Generator is Yes's Saint Anger, or it would be if Metallica's other albums didn't suck ass too.

11.15.10 | My father likes Steely Dan, a certain compilation of theirs could have been childhood nostalgia if it wasn't for my mother who rather dislikes them. I remember hearing Riki Don't Lose That Number more than often enough. |

PEG, Motherfuckers. |
Jethro42
11.15.10 | Awesome selection, Hans. And you're right Nag, Rikki had too much airplay. Also we got:
Do it Again
Bodhisattva
Kid Charlemagne
The Fez
Green Earrings
Aja
Deacon Blues
Josie
Aja is arguably theit best record, tight with their incredibly live album 'America', featuring virtuoso Dennis Chambers on drums.

Jethro42
11.15.10 | oh! And of course 'Babylone Sisters' |
BigHans
11.15.10 | oh fuck forgot Deacon Blues. Great song. |

11.16.10 | Are you sure you don't want to put Starship Trooper between 6 and 7? And then maybe move the new 6 and 7 up to spots 1 & 2? |
starry
11.16.10 | Where the heck is Wondrous Stories? That is one song I definitely like. |
Jethro42
11.16.10 | @Pastor: read the comment #3 ^
Also, nothing can move my actual top 5.
@starry: Wounderous Story is a good call indeed. |
Jethro42
11.16.10 | I'd place Starship Trooper right after Siberian Kathru (number 8) |
Jethro42
11.16.10 | dammit, I'm not sure at all of what Pastor of muppet meant. Je suis désolé. |

12.18.15 | @someguest I resolved the mystery about Starship Trooper. I mentioned at the beginning of this thread that I forgot to include that one, and that i'd place it at no. 5 or 6. |
Jethro42
12.18.15 | ^fixed. |
