5 Classic Albums I Didn't Think I'd Like But Did

Pretty self explanatory. Albums I'd heard were classics but disregarded either by heresay, reputation, or what I had heard on the radio, but then I ended up liking them after downloading them.
1Bob Dylan
Highway 61 Revisited

In the first place, I had never really liked the idea of folk, and I had always seen the Beat generation as a bunch of homosexuals and liberals. Well even if that's true, this album is an unpretentious masterpiece of folk and rock. It'll make you smile and shiver at the same time.
2The Clash
London Calling

Like anyone with a radio, I'd heard a couple of Clash songs before even downloading the album. They always seemed too slow, too simple, and too generic to be likable. Boy, was I wrong. It sounds like a soundtrack to a revolution.
3The Doors
The Doors

The Doors are one of those stock bands that you assume sucks because every douche bag and his mother listens to them. Apparently even douche bags can like good music if enough people tell them it's good. Jim Morrison is a good enough reason to listen to this album, because he comes off as a total badass. The band itself is obviously skilled, and knows how to make a catchy/awesome melody.
4Frank Sinatra
In The Wee Small Hours

I thought this album was just for my grandpa, but Frank is as soulful and relevant this generation as he was three generations ago.
5Talking Heads
Remain in Light

Some albums just sound like they would be gay. A white guy trying to do funk but ending up doing New Wave? Seems like something I would totally hate. Alas, I was wrong. Remain in Light is at once brooding and upbeat, well arranged and interesting, and totally sweet.
