Genre Defining Albums

each of these albums influcened countless bands and were innovators of their respective genre
1venom
black metal

Raw and not overloaded with talent, this album brought satan to the metal masses and influenced tons of black metal bands.
2metallica
kill em all

metallica's debut infused punk and nwobhm and basically started the thrash metal movement
3korn
korn

With no guitar solos, thundering bass, and off tempo screaming vocals, nu-metal is born. Hate the genre, but actually like this album
4black sabbath
black sabbath

the birth of heavy metal.
5 misfits
walk among us

With catchy chorus's, campy lyrics, devil locks and eye make-up the misfits unintentionally spawned spookycore. One of my all time favorite albums
6alice cooper
billion dollar babies

the innovator of shock rock. without alice there is no marylin manson, rob zombie or countless others who brought the theatrics to the concert stage
7agnostic front
victim in pain

hardcore is a tough genre to pin down the originator of. But this album influenced everyone from sick of it all and pro-pain to the cro-mags and hatebreed
8type o negative
bloody kisses

Granted St.Vitus and Candlemass came first but this album brought Doom and Goth Metal to the forefront
