Self-explanatory. | 1 | | Charizma and Peanut Butter Wolf Big Shots
Big Shots is a posthumous release of tracks recorded between 1991 and 1993, prior to Charizma's murder during a mugging. The sound here is great, full of extremely solid boom-bap beats, fitting samples, and Charizma's underappreciated mic skills. There isn't a single weak track on here. Recommended for fans of MF Grimm. | 2 | | Boogie Down Productions By All Means Necessary
This is definitely an improvement over Criminal Minded, which seemed to be a cluster of wack rhymes and horribly dated beats. Although they still sample a horrible rock song ("Smoke on the Water" instead of "Back in Black"), KRS' flow and chilled-out style make for an enjoyable listening experience. | 3 | | Kieran Hebden and Steve Reid Tongues
That one Four Tet dude and a jazz drummer who has worked with Ornette Coleman, Miles Davis, and Sun Ra. If this isn't reason enough to listen to this, then you're pretty lame. | 4 | | Songs of Green Pheasant Gyllying Street
I decided to listen to this album because of the cover. This guy creates a well-balanced mix of electronic music and post-rockish indie. Very relaxing and gentle album that is best when placed in the background. | 5 | | Caribou Andorra
Although this isn't as good as I was expecting it to be, Andorra is wonderful and melodious headphones album. This will probably be compared to Panda Bear's Person Pitch ad nauseum. | |

08.25.07 | I've actually heard all of these (except 4 which I've only heard 30 second samples of but whatever) and they're all good. Tongues is great. I don't think Andorra sounds like Person Pitch at all, other than the fact that both artists obviously listened to 60's music at some point and used it as a reference for their albums. | blackmilk
08.25.07 | Andorra doesn't sound like Person Pitch, but I've already seen some idiots trying hard to compare the two. I think the Beach Boys/Brian Wilson comparisons for both of the albums are a little unfounded too. The influence is obviously there, but it's not like both of them listened to Pet Sounds and said "Damn, I gotta make an album just like this!" | La Revolucion
08.25.07 | Yeah. I think the thing that makes people compare Person Pitch to Pet Sounds the most is the singing, and the general style of the production. But even those are slightly stretching it. I don't hear any Brian Wilson in Andorra, though. Silly critics. | FlawedPerfection
08.25.07 | Maybe I should check out 2 seeing as I agree with what you said about Criminal Minded. | blackmilk
08.25.07 | i use the word "wack" to emphasize how white i really am | The Jungler
08.25.07 | I gotta get 5, and 1 sounds good too. | Fort23
08.26.07 | cool looking list, 1 and 4 look especially good, ill check them out. | samthebassman
08.26.07 | I love reading your lists even though you are a pretentious prick. | 711
08.26.07 | I was going to listen to one a while back, but I think I just ended up hearing one song, which I think was good. I want to check these out. |
