Favorite 10 Hip-hop Albums

These are my favorite 10 Hip-Hop albums of all time, in order.
1 Big L
Life Stylez ov Da Poor and Dangerous

This CD is a lock at number 1. It is, by far, the best rap CD I own or have ever heard. Big L is the best rapper who has ever lived, lyrically and delivery wise, that is.
2 Tupac
Better Dayz

This CD changed my entire perspective on music. Until I heard this, I never liked rap or hip-hop. The remix of "My Block" is my favorite hip-hop song of all time. This is where the descrepancy is between best rappers. Tupac was a poet and you feel every word he says as if its your own thoughts. He was not the best rapper, but he put more emotion into his songs than any other rapper, alive or dead.
3Nas
Illmatic

This is an absolute classic. Illmatic launched Nas into the anals of rap. "My first album had no famous guest appearences- the outcome, I'm crowned the best lyricist"- Nas. Pretty much says it all.
4 Eminem
Marshall Mathers LP

Ah Eminem, thou hast spun an intricate web. How do you love and hate someone at the same time? Eminem shows you just how to do that. Aside from his milking of sympathy and his use of shock value, he may be one of the best lyricists ever. After you have listened to this CD and appreciate it well enough, get the more tame Eminem Show and listen to "'Till I Collapse" for one of the most well written pieces of rap.
5 Jedi Mind Tricks
Servants in Heaven, Kings in Hell

Jedi's newest CD. I was tempted to put one of their older CD's on here to appeal to the underground, but I couldn't. This is my favorite one of their CDs. Almost every song is consistent with the exception of the single off the album, "Heavy Metal Kings". Let me say this again. Do not listen to "Heavy Metal Kings". Listen to "A Vietnam Story" or "Outlive The War" instead of that garbage.
6Dr. Dre
2001

I almost put this CD at number 4, but I had to knock it down. It is a wonderful CD, yet it has been so commercialized that it is hard to listen to now. However, it is still a fantastic CD with almost every song being a hit in some form or another.
7 Digable Planets
Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space)

I was ten years old when I first heard this song. After that moment, I bought the CD with my allowance and listened to it over and over again. It, in part, inspired me to pick up the bass guitar.
8 Devin The Dude
Just Tryin' to Live

This is a CD that many might not appreciate as much as I. It has a very narrow value because almost every song is about marijuana. Thats A-OK with me, but it may not float everyone's boat. But, for the love of God, listen to "Lacville '79". It is possibly the most chill song ever written. Its only rival may lie in his other album, "To The X-Treme". Listen to "Right Now" off of that CD. I would in no way suggest that you ever get high, but if you happened to, you should definitally listen to this CD.
9Jurassic 5
Power In Numbers

This rap group, although not as talented as many rap groups out there today, has better flow than any other I've ever heard. Their beats are jazzy, their delivery is smooth, and they flow like a river. Excelent CD.
10 Rakim & Eric B.
Paid In Full

A very old school hip-hop CD. None of its value has depreciated over time. This is still one of the best CDs. Rakim is truely a master of his craft.
