Bfhurricane 05.20.09	AC/DC is just a fun band. Back In Black was actually an awesome rock album, but outside of that they're pretty samey.
Aids 05.20.09	I think lists like this are stupid. People like these bands for various reasons. Not everybody likes every good band and not everybody hates every bad band. Music is all about opinions. Here's mine. AC/DC are good but yes I feel the same way. They were better when I was younger and more easily impressed. Grateful Dead are known primarily for their live shows (hence their 'Jam Band' classificaiton). However, I haven't listened to them enough to have a solid opinion. Yes are excellent and even if you don't like them (the vocals can be offputting) you have to appreciate them as pioneers of prog music. Blink 182 are not just another pop-punk band. They are so much more. Weezer....yah I don't know. I think they're alright but I couldn't ever understand a 5 rating for any of their albums. But again, it's all about opinions.

emerson2 05.20.09	Music is about opinions, hence why I was expressing mine. I was simply wondering what people saw in these bands since other people do like them and have their own opinion about them. So I really don't think it's stupid at all.
ninjuice 05.20.09	AC/DC are ridiculously overrated outside of Sputnik...here lots don't like em either. And their songs do all sound the same. Blink is okay...just overrated. Same with Weezer...they're a lot more fun though.

emerson2 05.20.09	I know it is surprising considering how much I like other prog bands like King Crimson, Floyd, Rush, etc. But I guess it the same reason I can't stand the Mars Volta. Too chaotic and it seems like its weird for the sake of being weird.
shindip 05.20.09	1 is pretty generic hard rock, but can still be amusing 2 are supposedly amazing live, and have some pretty good songs 3 are awesome porg masters. (isnt ur profile pic Rick Wakeman?) 4 are pretty generic 5 have some reallly ok songs and some really bad songs

But yeah I definitely like Take the Veil and a couple other songs, but there really isn't that much cohesion to the Mars Volta's music, and there's way too much going on. Four counterpoint guitar lines + free jazz saxophone solo + frenetic drums + Cedric's screaming + random sound effects all at once = annoying.

Burning_October 05.20.09	In regards to Weezer, the first two albums are amazing. They're emotional, creative, and pretty much perfect pop albums. They take a while to get into, and at first they just seem like simple, fun pop music, but once you get into it and start getting all the layers and the lyrical complexities it gets really amazing.

Mendigo 05.20.09	dunno how serious you are, but Yes are pretty easily the most amazing band when it comes to pure technical bliss without losing sight of the actual songwriting. weird?, yeah they are weird but not weirder than King Crimson if you ask me. also, I kinda share your view of Mars Volta, but Yes isn't anything like that - with TMV I do often have the feeling many things are just there for the sake of it, whereas with Yes' great albums it all makes sense (at least for me). the others, well I don't think they're really bad, but nothing too special.

Yotimi 05.20.09	I know this is hard to contemplate but music is allowed to be fun and energetic - Blink 182. Plus Travis is an awesome drummer and probably the best of the genre. Also there are plenty of pop-punk bands that transend the "genericness" and are completely original, creative, and poetic (say anything, brand new, park). For Weezer, as everyone else said, their first 2 albums were great. The blue album, which came out in 1994 was very groundbreaking at the time. Along with Dookie from Green Day, It sort of broke the genre out of it's shell and influenced many bands that came after. Plus, you can't be cool unless you like Say it Ain't So and My Name is Jonas.

AtavanHalen 05.20.09	A lot of you shit-talking AC/DC have probably never even heard of Bon Scott. That man was the epitome of Australian rock music in his time, one of the all-time great frontmen. Back in Black onwards tends to suck, but I highly recommend listening to their seventies work.
