| | some more hot takes. | | 1 | | Pink Floyd Animals
Making a one-hour album, consisting of five songs, two of which are short interludes while the remaining ones account for the rest of the album, might be hard to do in a compositional sense and cool in it’s own way , however it makes the album far more dauting to get through, and while sure you might get through the album, personally, it’s not something I go back to often.
Best example I can give is probably Pink Floyd.
I legit really like Animals, but don’t revisit it as much as say; The Wall, WYWH, or DSOTM, because the runtimes on those tracks are easier to digest. | | 2 | | Lil Peep Come Over When You're Sober, Pt. 2
Lil Peep, had the best “sound” of the emo-rap/soundcloud era and it’s not even close.
He was extremely talented at mixing the emo/pop punk aesthetics with trap instrumentals and creating a very melancholic dreamy sadboi vibe and his voice fit like a glove. I’d go as far as to say he would probably have had an artistic development akin to Mac Miller if he lived longer. | | 3 | | Brand New Deja Entendu
If you were to argue that,“X artist was a bad person so you shouldn’t listen to their music”, oh boy, you would have to stop yourself from experiencing, not just a lot of music, but, A LOT, of art in general.
At the end of the day, there’s not really a correct way to go about this issue. Sometimes terrible people make great art , and it’s on the person who’s experiencing it to make the call if it’s okay to continue enjoying their art. Arguing otherwise it stupid. | | 4 | | Bring Me The Horizon Suicide Season
Bring Me The Horizon, are way to over-hated and deserve the success they achieved.
They survived the whole 2010’s myspace era and are probably bigger now, they always changed their sound from album to album regardless of results, and whilst revisiting their discography, their records are aging perfectly, shit, I think I currently enjoy Suicide Season more, than when I was a teen. | | 5 | | Jeff Rosenstock HELLMODE
Jeff Rosenstock has the best pop-punk catalogue of all time. OF ALL TIME. | | 6 | | Deftones Koi No Yokan
Chino’s lyrics really detract from the music sometimes.
Their sound is so dynamic and interesting, while the lyrics are woefully simple. I’ve read somewhere that he purposely does this to make the lyrics abstract and not to take away from the music. However half the time his writing is based purely off of “You” and “I” sentences and can get annoying. | |

09.16.25 | bump | Josh D.
09.16.25 | Not sure how "hot" I'd call any of these. | Slex
09.16.25 | 3 is literally the coldest take ever conceived in the history of the universe lmao | EphemeralEternity
09.16.25 | Apparently peep wrote most tracks in a single session usually under the influence of something, he had an ear for vocal hooks and his voice was perfect for the style, there's a good chance he would have transcended that niche eventually especially after it started to die out and merge with other subgenres, but I guess we're just stabbing in the dark
Most emo rap is dogshit in retrospect so he wasn't exactly facing stiff competition | brickhed
09.16.25 | 3 is a very underrated take
not sure how it's cold, you can condemn the artist but enjoy the work from an objective standpoint. people really like to judge these days, especially a lot of users here. | Slex
09.16.25 | I've never heard a single Lil Peep song but Wicca Phase Springs Eternal are great | Slex
09.16.25 | It's cold because, regardless of how I feel about it, the overwhelming majority agree with it. The whole separate art from artist thing is not a hot take lmao | PsychLizard
09.16.25 | @slex you could argue that its sensible take, but the amount of times I’ve seen people arguing over this…. I’m not so sure of the vast majority
Edit: poor phrasing | jrlikestodance
09.16.25 | Brand New just isn't good enough to separate . Take is mad cold | unclereich
09.16.25 | Ad populum? | Calc
09.16.25 | 3 is partially why 80% of the staffers got nuked lol but gotta agree, it's a fairly common take. people's lines vary wildly. I learned years ago that lostprophets is my line. Maybe I'll find one that's closer than that someday but I haven't yet. | jrlikestodance
09.16.25 | The fact we cant rate Devil n God under a 2 is insane | unclereich
09.16.25 | 1 isn’t discussed enough that album is a snooze fest | brickhed
09.16.25 | "It's cold because, regardless of how I feel about it, the overwhelming majority agree with it. The whole separate art from artist thing is not a hot take lmao"
if you can't, thats fine. i just have a problem if people judge and condemn anyone who enjoys the art by itself. this is the last i'll speak on the subject since people feel pretty strong about it, and i dislike internet arguments. | Deathconscious
09.16.25 | "'If you were to argue that,'X artist was a bad person so you shouldn’t listen to their music”, oh boy, you would have to stop yourself from experiencing, not just a lot of music, but, A LOT, of art in general.

Ok, but I think not supporting pedophiles is a pretty low bar. If you feel comfortable listening to the music go ahead, I just don't think people should be supporting a predator that used that same platform to abuse kids by going to their shows, buying merch, etc. | Slex
09.16.25 | Brand New is still a good band fuck them kids- a truly controversial and unforseen opinion on w w w sputnikmusic dot com | Tomstein
09.16.25 | Here's one, I don't think Godsmack is that bad. I mean their not the best but their not the worst or as bad as people say in my opinion. I will say I don't care for their last two albums but their first four I still have a soft spot for. I prefer them over Disturbed when it comes to mainstream butt rock bands. tehe | budgie
09.16.25 | ur on drugs if u think im gonna read any of these entries | PsychLizard
09.16.25 | @Tomstein I understand the sentiment. There’s alot of buttrock I enjoy even though I know it’s often times derivative. Cant vouch for Godsmack as I managed to not hear a single song, Fuel though is fire. | jrlikestodance
09.16.25 | Disturbed are way worse than Godsmack agreed | Tomstein
09.16.25 | I used to like Disturbed but I just got bored of them. Kind of lik Godsmack their last two albums wasn't a surprise to me. I think I still like maybe three songs and that's it. | RVAHC13
09.17.25 | 5 is the only one I strongly disagree with, the rest I somewhat agree or don’t know enough about to have an opinion | budgie
09.17.25 | pink floyd was okay when i was younger and less racist against british ppl
now its like unlistenable emo garbage for boomers | RVAHC13
09.17.25 | Even though I agree with 3, Roger Waters is such a prick it makes me not want to listen to him sing most of the time | cylinder
09.17.25 | Bladee owns Lil Peep | PsychLizard
09.17.25 | @RVAHC13 who would you say has a better catalogue ? | JoyfulPlatypus
09.17.25 | I largely agree with 4, even though I admit I used to be a big hater of them when I was younger lol.
But, credit where it's due, they've gotta be the most successful band to remain from that scene. | RogueNine
09.17.25 | "common"
It's a common take but probably not a majority one either. |
