1.5/5s that I can't give a 1.5

Not in any order
1Anton Webern
Complete Webern

1908-1931. One of the few cases in classical where I feel that the recording is affecting the way I see the music. Webern, upon reflection, seems like he was almost toying with the late-19th century's hyper-romanticism in the same way Mahler was. Which I far prefer to whatever the hell Boulez saw and I had to hear.
2Franz Schubert
String Quartet No. 14 (Death and the Maiden)
3Grateful Dead
Live/Dead

1969. I know this shouldn't be the case, but what interests me the most about Grateful Dead and their music is the "dead" part. The way that that plays into the spirit of the 60s is strange and what really sets the music apart. The places in which these guys are different from something like Jefferson Airplane are all symptoms of that word.
4Johannes Brahms
Ein deutsches Requiem, nach Worten der heiligen Schrift, Op. 45
5Ludwig van Beethoven
String Quartet No. 13 in B♭ major, Op. 130
6maudlin of the Well
Bath

2001. Toby Driver mostly experimenting with just how much he could do. It's not quite a technique yet, but it's good.
7Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
"Jupiter" Symphony No. 41 in C major, K. 551
8Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major, K. 467
9Ludwig van Beethoven
"Pastoral" Symphony No. 6 in F major, Op. 68
10Ludwig van Beethoven
Symphony No. 3 in E♭ “Eroica” Op. 55
11Gyorgy Ligeti
Atmospheres
12Johann Sebastian Bach

13Johann Sebastian Bach
Matthäus-Passion, BWV 244
14Gustav Mahler

15Gustav Mahler
Symphony No. 5 in C sharp minor
16Bela Bartok
