haven't seen a ton of Werner Herzog's movies (there's quite a few on Youtube, i watched Aguirre a few years ago but don't remember much aside from the opening, and i've tried Fitzcaraldo a couple times). this one hooked me right from the opening. very creepy and saturated with dread and ugliness.

an early-ish horror movie with sound, although there's very little dialog. atmospheric and haunting with some iconic imagery. there's a version that syncs the video with Year of No Light's soundtrack, but the dialog is silent. still worth checking out as it's very much a visual film.

Kids in the Hall adjacent comedy starring Dave Foley. very silly but not obnoxiously so imo, it feels like old school slapstick/broad comedy but is better than that sounds. it's funnier than Brain Candy (haven't seen that in a long time though). awesome cast (Joe Flaherty!!)

the Mr. Show movie. i knew Bob and David were really unhappy with the finished product, but as a huge fan of the series this was still very much worth a watch. it really depends on how much you enjoyed the Ronnie Dobbs character obviously. not every bit/character works but oh well. low quality, but it's pretty hard to find outside of YouTube.

idk if this movie is still seen as kind of a meme - i remember Simpsons and maybe a few other shows making fun of it. two guys playing themselves have dinner and talk about life and whatever, to me that sounds sort of insufferable but i ended up loving this movie. Andre Gregory and Wallace Shawn are very easy to listen to and the movie never drags somehow. the ending is an unexpected gut punch that has really stayed with me

i loved Bergman when i was in high school/college but had never seen this one. it came to me at the exact right time this year. amazing performances from the two leads. totally unflinching and raw, devastating yet weirdly comforting. the sequel Sarabande is worth seeking out too.
