metalhead bitterness

It's no secret that I've made fun of metalheads my fair share on this site. But that's not what I'm here to do right now. I am here to ask a question
EAT (NXT Soundtrack)

Why is it that so many metalheads can't just enjoy their favourite genre? Why is it not enough to just enjoy metal, listen to metal, talk to people about metal etc? Obviously it's not all of you, but there's a hefty portion of you who are actively hostile toward the existence of other genres, particularly pop music but I see it with other genres too. Like they'll just slap a 1.0 on anything vaguely pop adjacent even though you know there's no chance they listened to more than 1 song, if that
2Bruce Springsteen
Only The Strong Survive

somebody left a 1.0 rating and a soundoff on the new Springsteen album of old soul covers. it reads: "Retire, old man. Be the change you wish to see and let someone less fortunate have the spotlight, you privileged drunkard." of course his pie chart is filled with metal. there is also another 1.0 and a 1.5 from users with metal filled charts
3Natalia Lafourcade
De Todas las Flores

While I hate to give too much credit to one troll comment, I feel like that soundoff sums up the attitude I see from a lot of metalheads/metalcore fans, and it's been that way for a long time. They feel like the bands they're into have been wronged somehow, and it's a great injustice that pop music or other more palatable genres are popular and mainstream while their precious metal music has always been confined to the shadows, and they've been judged for being into it. Like dude I get it, people have been mean to you because you like metal, but I promise you it's not Carly Rae Jepsen's fault

some of you guys are in your 30s and still embody the energy of a 2010 youtube video comment section hating on Justin Bieber and saying he's everything wrong with society. it is time to move on guys
5Taylor Swift

not from metal music, but from the bitterness that consumes you. you are not proving a point of any kind. there is no battle to be won here. the music you like will always be relatively niche, it will never permeate mainstream culture, and that's ok. your spiteful low ratings will not retroactively erase people making fun of you for your taste, nor will they cause some kind of grand societal shift where radio stations bump Ulcerate all day at H&M instead of Taylor Swift. just let go. it's okay.
