It's been almost a year, but I'm back ig. Hi to everyone who remembers me! If anyone. 2023 has been a wild, jam-packed year that has flown by at absurd pace. Almost too fast to keep track of. I'll keep it brief though. List is stuff idk. | 1 | | Hail the Sun Divine Inner Tension
Album of the year for me. Never expected it to be Hail the Sun of all bands, but here we are. | 2 | | O'Brother The Death of Day
Somehow missed this absolutely beautiful behemoth of an EP when going through their catalog the first time last year.
Anyway first up, I finished community college and got my engineering, physics, and math associates earlier this year. Distance learning finally ended for the most part, so I spent of my days at college commandeering the engineering room for myself to do homework while listening to music on the sound system I hijacked. I attempted to run a club (and learned I should never run a club), finally made connections with more than 3 people at a time, and got a slight taste of the college experience. Also aced my classes and got accepted to my dream school. | 3 | | As Cities Burn Hell or High Water
Have had '84 Sheepdog on repeat recently.
My summer was probably the best of my life. Spent a lot of time with friends. A lot of day trips to interesting places, a lot of weed, a lot of sleep overs, etc. I went camping for the first time! And with a total lack of responsibility (unlike the torture of the summer prior), I almost felt like a kid again. | 4 | | La Dispute Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair
God I had to force myself to like this band.
I came out as trans and started my transition. It's been a pretty monumental step to self discovery and mental health improvement (which has been in a derelict and depressed state for many years now). | 5 | | Fugazi The Argument
Gained a new appreciation for these legendary pioneers.
And finally. I went away to college to study Aerospace Engineering. This quarter has been pretty rough due to housing issues, but also incredibly fulfilling. I've met some incredible people. I've gotten a taste of independence. I've gotten to do a bit of the fun activities I planned to do here. And I've learned a lot of stuff I've always wanted to know how to do. Here's hoping the ante gets upped and I get to have a bunch more exciting experiences next year. | |
