COD Zombies games ranked

As the holiday season approaches, I've been playing the most festive game imaginable... COD Zombies! Yeah, this is just a little list for fun, using my favorite albums for my favorite games, and my least favorite for my least favorite, you get the idea. Oh, also, non-Treyarch Zombies are included here! MWIII is not, just because I haven't played it or seen any of it.
10Panic! at the Disco
Viva Las Vengeance

Vanguard Zombies

Surprising probably nobody, Vanguard's heaping pile of garbage lands at the bottom. I shouldn't even have to explain this one. Between the two maps that are literally just neutered Outbreak, the bevy of missing shit at launch, and more unnecessary changes to core mechanics of Zombies, nothing about this game worked. To the depths it goes, hopefully like the rest of this fucking game.

Advanced Warfare

I don't hate AW like I hate Vanguard, but I sure as hell don't like it either. Exosuits in Zombies sounds fun on paper, but in practice, there's a lot wrong with this game. Tedious easter egg quests, one of the worst Zombies maps of all time (Infection), and some of the most annoying special zombies in history (fuck the EMZs, fuck the weird infected zombies that force you to run to bum fuck nowhere). A good story and a great cast does not save this game.

World at War

I'm gonna catch some shit for putting WAW as low as I did, but the reality is that this game is far more barebones compared to what we'd get. This is about the safest Zombies game now, though it was super ambitious at the time (mostly because it was the first damn installment). All 4 of the maps here are included on better games with better hardware and better mechanics. Aside from nostalgia, I see no reason to return here for a Zombies fix.

Filaments

WWII

One of the best aesthetics in any Zombies game to date. The body horror and grotesque elements are some of the best parts of this game, and The Final Reich is genuinely a great map. Shame that the rest of the maps are mostly forgettable, with The Darkest Shore just being annoying thanks to the fucking fog. A great amount of potential, but a final product that was unable to deliver.
6I Prevail
TRAUMA

BO4

Perhaps the most inconsistent of the Treyarch Zombies games. I'm mixed on this one, because I genuinely love some of the maps, like IX, Classified, Ancient Evil, and even Alpha Omega, but there are just as many that I don't like, and the changes to core mechanics like perks and Pack-a-Punch, combined with horrific zombie spawns and a boring-ish new story, and you've got a disappointing guilty pleasure of a Zombies game.
5Fall Out Boy
So Much (For) Stardust

Black Ops

Here's where the games start getting genuinely good. BO1's color palate may be washed as fuck, but the maps here are classic, though still a little too simplistic (Moon and Shangri-La aside) to elevate this entry much higher. Again, remasters of a lot of these maps exist on better hardware, though unlike WAW, I can see people wanting to return to BO1.
4Coheed and Cambria
Vaxis II: A Window of the Waking Mind

Infinite Warfare

If people weren't mad at me before, they probably will be now. Beast from Beyond aside (fuck that map), IW is a shockingly consistent and fun Zombies entry, and probably the most underrated game in the entire Zombies franchise. Seriously, why do people hate this so much? Zombies in Spaceland is a top 10 map for me, and while the other maps don't reach the same heights, they still are a blast of a good time. The aesthetics and cheesy B-movie vibe are top notch, and the Director's Cut was a great addition to the game, not to mention the superboss at the end (shame you have to beat Beast to get there). I still redownload IW every so often just to play Zombies, it's that much fun.

That being said, fuck the Radioactive Thing Easter Egg.
3Tallah
The Generation of Danger

BO2

2 of the best Zombies maps in history, tempered by 2 of the absolute worst, with a couple of solid ones thrown in for good measure. It's in contention with BO4 for the most inconsistent Zombies game quality-wise. Unlike BO4, however, the mechanics are much better, and the addition of modes like Grief and Turned provide a good shake-up to the usual Zombies formula, albeit one that never really popped up again.
2Silent Planet
Superbloom

Cold War

Hot take, but I genuinely think this is better than BO2, all because of one word: consistency. Cold War Zombies is the most consistent entry in the franchise with the exception of my number 1 that everyone already guessed most likely. After BO4's disappointment, Cold War came out swinging with a grand return to truly classic Zombies, with a couple updates that changed the game for the better. Perks are back, the loadout system is surprisingly not broken, the armor system is fantastic, as are the upgrades, and the maps are all relatively solid and enjoyable in their own right. Outbreak and Onslaught are also great diversions from the main action. I genuinely enjoy this entry a shit ton, and I think it's probably the best model for Zombies going forward.
1Rush
Clockwork Angels

BO3

Of fucking course this would be my number 1. How could it not? One of the most solid engines as a base, some of the best Zombies maps in history, not a single dud outside of mayyybe Zetsubou no Shima or Revelations (and even those maps are pretty damn good), one of the best storylines in a Zombies game, fantastic weapons, fantastic Easter Eggs, remasters aplenty, this game literally has it all. It was so damn good that Treyarch kept adding shit to it even after BO3's yearly cycle was over. That's how incredible this game was.
