| Your favourite pop punk albums of the decade
Inspired by Nate the Mate's video on his pop punk albums of the decade, I wanted to see what sput's opinion on this decades' pop punk was :) list is my personal favourites/recommendations in the genre. | 1 | | The Story So Far Proper Dose
I know this band gets kinda circle-jerked in the pop punk community but this album is great in many ways. | 2 | | The 101's For The Years
A relatively unknown pop punk band from the Netherlands. They quit some time ago, this album is not a 5 but for me it has a lot of value. Check it out if you like pop punk :) | 3 | | A Day to Remember Common Courtesy
It's not 100% pop punk because of the very obvious metalcore influences, so listing this here is a little out of place but this band comes up in pop punk discussions quite often and I think this album is solid. | 4 | | Neck Deep Life's Not Out To Get You
Straight up pop punk, surely some cringy, juvenile lyrics at times, but the overall songwriting feels really catchy to me and I really do appreciate the energy within their songs. | 5 | | State Champs The Finer Things
I am not a huge fan of State Champs but I checked out all of their albums and I definitely feel like this is a pop punk album that every fan of the genre should check out. | 6 | | Hold Close Time
A moody, peaceful and at times uplifting pop punk/emo album that was largely written in tribute to the death of a friend of the band (at least, that's my interpretation of the whole collection of songs). | 7 | | Can't Swim Fail You Again
Not a 100% pop punk band but easily has enough influences from the genre that I could list it here and I think this album is lovely. It's not just one style of music, it's a mix of things and it's done in a very interesting, catchy and emotive way. | 8 | | Spanish Love Songs Schmaltz
Recommended sad boi pop punk. I think there's a great review written about it on sput that explains the album a lot better. | 9 | | Trash Boat Crown Shyness
Lovely mix of post-hardcore and pop punk. I met these guys multiple times and they're great dudes, their work is 100% worth checking out if you're into one of those genres. | |

12.12.19 | also list is sorely missing Menzingers | Josh D.
12.12.19 | I really dislike the genre, so I can't contribute anything but that thought.
Actually, I do still kinda dig "My Friends Over You". | Relinquished
12.12.19 | "Taking Back Sunday's Tidal Wave (massively underappreciated)"
backed hard. prob the only pop punk band I like mainly thru nostalgia | Atari

For a heavier Taking Back Sunday also check The Flatliners - Cavalcade | Observer
12.13.19 | Oh yeah, forgot about that flatliners album, Ill 2nd that. Also: Polar Bear Club's Clash Battle Pride is their most accessible album and best imo. A lot to like there if you like pop punk tinged with post hardcore. | Minushuman24

12.13.19 | Great list sloth, reminded me to check smith street band, which i havent. | Atari
12.13.19 | wait Sloth, you saying Telethon's last album is even better than the new one?! stoked to check it out. agreed with a lot of that list | SlothcoreSam
12.13.19 | Yeah that Telethon album is crazy good, what got me into the band, it is an apocalyptic pop-punk-rock opera. You need to immerse yourself in it, so give yourself a couple of hours. Chris Farren and Laura Stevenson both do guest vocals.
Check it out here, it is a master piece.
The song Stillwave, featuring Chris Farren, has some of the best storytelling I have ever heard in a pop-punk song. Sooooooo good.
