The Hu. Near perfect Mongolian Post Nomadic Metal
So I've always had a soft spot for Mongolian/northern Chinese/Siberian Tuvan throat singing-metal fusion.
All the bands I checked out prior to hearing The Hu, were great, but missed that something special. 3 songs released by The Hu, and i think we might have ourselves the first classic in this genre.
List is examples of Tuvan influenced metal.
Album out September 13th.
Check out their 3 singles. And pay close attention to their instruments, very unique and cool.
Wolf Totem: https://youtu.be/jM8dCGIm6yc
Yuve Yuve Yu: https://youtu.be/v4xZUr0BEfE
Shoog Shoog: https://youtu.be/dwr4SPK1_TY
More traditional sounding, with some elements of classic rock. They did a whole covers album with Albert Kuvezin that was a fun interesting listen. Check out In A Gadda Da Vida, https://youtu.be/U2ZVpFL8uqk
Made in Altan Urag
This is nomadic folky prog metal, with traditional instruments, throat singing and gang vocals.
Galloping folk metal out of China. Musically this is close to western metal, with some traditional instruments weaved in. Vocally and production wise it's pretty strong as well.
The Orphan's Lament
This isn't metal at all. Pure traditional Tuvan throat singing with Tuvan instruments such as, the igil, khomus, doshpuluur and dünggür. One of the most amazing live performances i have ever attended.
Heavy nomadic folk metal. The band broke up last year, then reunited early 2019, released northern memory, and unfortunately as i write this list, i am sad to announce the passing of frontman Nature Ganganbaigel, 24th June 2019, may your steed carry you home.
Spirit of Mongolia
One of my fav Metalcore throat singing hybrids. Would be a classic if his vocals were cleaner.
The Hu >>>>> The Who
is this just metalcore with some throat singing added
its not lol
jeez okay i'll listen
i cordially apologize for my commernt and vow to be a better person
@ Tyler, The Hu isn't, but Ego fall kinda is.
Let me know what you think.
Tyler. did nothing wrong.
Very specific pairing. Not my cup of tea, but I am glad you enjoy.
The Hu Sell Out
I don't know about Sell Out, but after watching the film clips, they have put a lot of $$$$$ into it.
I have been listening to them on Spotify, and only just checked out the clips.
Sam wtf lol
I need to take a bath but will investigate this after
I'm kinda torn now, the songs sounded great and are still awesome songs, but the videos and English lyrics printed on the screen sorta take away from it a bit. I recommended listening to it before you watch the clips.
I def am checking them out in Chicago
Sweet, will need a report after.
Wolf Totem is pretty cool, bet they'd be great live
Don't care what anybody says this band is absolutely not metal.
reminds me of Black Kirin, minus the black metal part.
New single is awesome
