SlothcoreSam 04.13.19	Last 5 are from this year. Just to be clear, I work in the mental health/ drug and alcohol field, and i see a lot of sad shit on a daily basis. I'm not saying my job or life is harder than yours, I'm just a little burnt out after a depressing week at work. So these are albums that cheers me up, and makes me forget about the sad state of my community. The title is my attempt at black comedy, so no need to be concerned about me.

SlothcoreSam 04.13.19	Not so much me, to many overdoses, suicide attempts, and sad stories from the people i work with, and a lot of them are young. Music helps me when i get home. So I'm kinda finding my own happiness in life through music, but at the same time sad about the society I'm living in.

artiswar 04.13.19	Your outlook has to remain firm if you're gonna keep helping people. If you're getting this depressed it's going to cloud your judgement. Maintain perspective, this is A community, not THE community. A lot of people lead fucked up lives but a lot of people also find a way to pull themselves out of the tail-spin. I feel you though, I'm sure doing this kind of work takes a mental toll.

I can't really elaborate on the details. The main point i was trying to make, was that no matter how much i burn myself out and how depressing my work can be, i can always put on a great album, and it will cheer me up. Other things do as well, family, friends, my lady, and yeah bacon is aaaight too.

Originally i posted this list on Friday night after a shit week of work, again i don't want you to feel sorry for me, and I'm not saying my job is harder or more imporant than yours, I was extremely burnt out. The albums in the list are ones that make me happy, and i used dark humour to deal with a sensitive topic. A bit of background, I have a medical degree and work in mental health/ addiction management, and deal a lot with youth and indigenous peoples. Without going into details i see a lot of severely depressed people, suicidal people, suicides, overdoses, repeat suicide attempts, all sorts. Now what makes me sad is when i reflect about what is happening in the community i live in, and the more i analyse it, the more depressing it becomes. In regards to religion and feeling regrets about suicide, and I'm not stating that I'm an expert, but from my experience, there is no correlation. Both religious and nonreligious people sometimes regret attempting suicide, and they actively seek help not to do it again. On the other hand some people, again religious or nonreligious, regret having failed to commit suicide, and will attempt it again and some will succeed. Other people attempt suicide half-heartedly because they are crying out for attention and help. There are so many other factors at play. My advice is instead of wondering about the difference between religious and nonreligious suicidal people's regrets, if you know anyone in that situation reach out to them and let them know you care. Except if they are a member of an extremist religion and wearing lots of clothing, best advice for you is to run. If you want to debate theology about the meaning of life, and the reason to live, let's do it, but in this case, it's not relevant.

I don't know if you've ever been a teacher or had to deal with groups of people, but everyone always falls into an well-known niche. A class will have most personality type represented by some almost cosmic order. And so it is with any online community. People will subconsciously locate the vacuum they can best fill with their personal traits, thus we will always see representations of the edgy, the triggered, the concerned, the Responsible Adult, the anarchist and the joke - and more. The more controversial and difficult a statement is, the more it invites exaggeration of these types, see immigration and religion. Obviously suicide and the potential for making people commit suicide is bound to agitate many of these types like a fox in a henhouse ohgod I can't do anymore Adolf, I hope it's good enough.

The band Sufferer wrote an album about living a day with depression and anxiety, which has really good lyrics considering the difficult topic. There are 3 vocalists representing the subject, the depression and the anxiety. Can only recommend it.

Furthermore who's to say that every suicide attempt will be "successful"? I would be fucking scared if I wanted to die and then end up totally paralyzed and therefore completely out of control of my life in terms of ending it. Last but not least: To be an atheist is logical thinking while staying alive are instincts. People who commit suicide often have fucked up brain chemistries. So yeah, as interesting as the comparison of believers and atheists in terms of suicide is - it is not that simple.

Hint, it starts with a J. But anyway, the conclusion is that we are kept alive by instinctual self-preservation. Couple that with a general idea of being judged in the afterlife (endorsed by the state) and you get some pretty amazing gut-overreactions. More seriously, there is a person in here who displays pretty big signs of depression and is super scared of this subject. He already hates me, but I hope someone else can support him.
