01.10.21 | I haven't played it yet but did any of y'all do? I'd like some Sputnikers' opinions on the matter. Also no Serious Sam OSTs on Sput wtf needs to be fixed |
Gyromania
01.10.21 | Play talos principle instead everyone. Game is a 10/10 masterpiece. SS4 is extremely disappointing compared to the originals |
Pikazilla
01.10.21 | Big fan of the first two encounters, but the new game is just... not good. |
rellik009
01.10.21 | dang the few negative Steam reviews I saw were right
I think I wished for too much
what are the main problems again?
|
rellik009
01.10.21 | also second encounter is peak Serious Sam |
Pikazilla
01.10.21 | Game is a buggy mess, most fights suck, guns have no feedback, platforming is shite yet required to get most secrets |
Gyromania
01.10.21 | Everything pika said and more. It just feels/sounds/looks totally uninspired. The level design is complete ass too |
CaliggyJack
01.10.21 | I'm playing it right now. On launch it was pretty borked, but they've fixed most of the bugs and the game is 10X better now. Compared to 3 it is somewhat lacking, but it is still a great SS game. |
rellik009
01.10.21 | so basically they pulled the "no-effort nostalgic game" card |
Pikazilla
01.10.21 | Wouldn't even call it that, the game has absolutely no soul. |
Gyromania
01.10.21 | Jack says they fixed bugs which is great and all but the soul of the game just isn't there. They can fix and optimize as much as they want but the failings of the game are too rooted in design more than optimization for me.
Again: PLAY TALOS PRINCIPLE EVERYONE. Game is a better Portal |
Gyromania
01.10.21 | Haha Pika beat me to dissing its soul |
rellik009
01.10.21 | "Game is a better Portal"
I'm sold.
"Wouldn't even call it that, the game has absolutely no soul."
that's really disappointing, I was so hyped and then... why did Croteam crush my dreams :[ |
Gyromania
01.10.21 | It's not the worst game I've ever played, but I grew up with the originals so the disappointment hits a bit harder. |
Deathconscious
01.10.21 | Never played a Serious Sam game, i re-bought a 360 to play some of my old favorites again, should i get SS2? |
rellik009
01.10.21 | It's much better on PC to be quite honest (still playable on console though), but I don't know about Serious Sam 2(I'm assuming you're not talking about the "Encounter" Serious Sam games), I never really played it either. Start with the First Encounter and Second Encounter, then try SS3 if you want something more modern. |
Pikazilla
01.10.21 | SS2 is pretty good but VERY cartoonish. Some very questionable enemy designs. |
rellik009
01.10.21 | from the few images i remember of it, it looks weird for sure |
Deathconscious
01.10.21 | Looks like first and second encounter are PC only.
Edit: nvm, looks like they released HD versions of them for 360 in 2010. So those two are generally considered to be golden era Serious Sam? |
protokute
01.10.21 | I have Talos Principle on my Steam library since last christmas sale..... But I still haven't played it, I just forget I have it and there's so many games still waiting for me to play them aaaaaaaaaaa |
Pikazilla
01.10.21 | "So those two are generally considered to be golden era Serious Sam?"
Yes, absolutely. |
Deathconscious
01.10.21 | Oh, looks like that collection is also on the PS4. i might check that out. |
Colton
01.10.21 | Was watching some random twitch stream and the guy was just relentlessly talking shit about this whole series for like 5 mins |
Pikazilla
01.10.21 | Hardly surprising, first game was a lightning in a bottle, really. |
insomniac15
01.10.21 | It's fun, but exhausting at times. I found it better than 3 tbh. |
Gyromania
01.10.21 | Protokute: play it!!! Most overlooked game of last decade |
protokute
01.10.21 | I must!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
CaliggyJack
01.10.21 | Talos Principle is absolute GOAT
Puzzles will get excruciatingly bullshit at certain areas though. Like I would say 85% of the main game is fair and then there is just 15% of absolute, hair pulling, frustrating bs that no regular person would figure out. |
