| Lost Ozzfest Alums
Been combing through the Ozzfest lineups recently. So many bands made it huge with the Ozzfest as their stepping stone. Surprisingly, several other bands had their opportunity and 15 minutes, mostly on second stage, and subsequently disbanded or disappeared. Here’s a memorial to those bands lost within the first 10 years of Ozzfest. | 1 | | Ozzy Osbourne Ozzmosis
Ozzfest 1996 - Cellophane, King Norris, and Narcotic Gypsy. | 2 | | Slo Burn Amusing The Amazing
Ozzfest 1997 - Slo Burn. A short lived but potent John Garcia (of Kyuss) project | 3 | | Human Waste Project E-lux
Ozzfest 1998 - Human Waste Project (UK) and Monster Voodoo Machine (US) | 4 | | Pushmonkey Pushmonkey
Ozzfest 1999 - Pushmonkey, Flashpoint, Drain STH, and Apartment 26 | 5 | | Slaves on Dope Inches From the Mainline
Ozzfest 2000 - The Deadlights, Slaves on Dope, Revielle, Primer 55, Shuvel, and Pumpjack. | 6 | | No One No One
Ozzfest 2001 - Pure Rubbish, No One, Pressure 4-5, and Systematic. Had included The Union Underground here, but apparently they’re still kicking. | 7 | | Pulse Ultra Headspace
Ozzfest 2002 - Pulse Ultra, Cyclefly, Neurotica, The Apex theory, Switched, and 3rd Strike. | 8 | | Unloco Becoming I
Ozzfest 2003 - Unloco, Hotwire, Grade 8, Twisted Method, Memento, Endo, and Depswa. | 9 | | Magna-FI Burn Out The Stars
Ozzfest 2004 - Magna Fi and Disown | 10 | | Wicked Wisdom Wicked Wisdom
Ozzfest 2005 - Wicked Wisdom and A Dozen Furies. | |

11.06.23 | Ayyy, Pulse Ultra! Nice | Iamthe Nightstars
11.06.23 | What is it with Ozzfest and nu metal? | JDubb
11.06.23 | @canczar - I’m envious of that. Only went to 3 Ozzfests myself (and only 2004 for the whole day). | JDubb
11.06.23 | @cycosynner, Wow! Just saw the Back to the 2000’s tour. Will have to take them off, as still alive and breathing. | Hawks
11.06.23 | Jada Pinkett can go fuck herself and so can her shitty band. | TheManMachine
11.06.23 | someone send this list to smok | 0GuyMan0
11.06.23 | Pulse Ultra reigns supreme over this list. Incredible album that I continue to push around here. Far better than their peers, absolute talents, alt-metal masterpiece if you give it a chance.
Reveille is pretty cringe to check out now, but at the time they were kind of like Darwin's Waiting Room, or 40 Below Summer or some of the other faux-nu bands where they showed some potential but mostly existed because of their energetic live shows. The album Bleed the Sky has some tracks I go back to from time to time, namely Plastic and Farewell Fix. Plastic, for some reason, has a guest vocal spot from Taproot's Stephen Richards that has always stuck with me. Absolutely love it to this day.
Hotwire had one of the great bangers of the era (Invisible), several tracks on the album were pretty good. Energetic live band.
Twisted Method turned a lot of heads for their vocalist's powerful screams. This style hasn't aged well, but at the time it was a lot of dumb fun. Album has a couple good tracks.
Memento had a lot of potential. Beginnings was pretty good, unique vocalist. Most popular song, Nothing Sacred, didn't really do them justice.
Depswa was a pretty good hard rock band that didn't really fit with the rest. From the Inside, Needles and This Time were all really strong songs. Singer Jeremy had some serious pipes. Clearly wasn't going to rise above the pack, though, think they packed it in pretty quick.
Some of my friends were big Systematic fans, I wasn't really feeling them personally. | chemicalmarriage
11.06.23 | Was at the 05 tour got to see jada suck ass. Mastodon was cool glad I got to see them before brent ate all those mushrooms and shit in the sink getting them kicked off the tour lol | 0GuyMan0
11.06.23 | Dave Williams died three days before my show in '02 I just remembered. They were metal darlings in my neck of the woods at the time, was super sad. | JDubb
11.06.23 | @OGuyManO, I am also partial to Pulse Ultra and Memento, as they were more alt metal leaning. Similar for The Apex Theory. That Ozzfest must have been a bit somber - but Drowning Pool (most of them at least) are still doing their thing. | JDubb
11.06.23 | @Hawks and chemicalmarriage; Why the hate on wicked Wisdom? Not the best rapcore band out there, but not the worst either. They were a lot better than several other rap rock bands at that time (e.g., Bolt Upright, Crazy Town, Reveille). Not better than Primer 55 and 3rd Strike though… | 0GuyMan0
11.06.23 | no chance wicked was better than reveille imo. couldn't take them seriously, big time cringe.
also jada is a dumpster fire cunt, by all accounts, so she can fuck right out of my genre lol. I know they had their fans though. | MoM
11.06.23 | “ Was at the 05 tour got to see jada suck ass”
Does Will know she was sucking ass? | JDubb
11.06.23 | @MoM. LMAO. | 0GuyMan0

11.07.23 | great list idea. if you had to pick one of these bands to rec to me, which band would you think is most worth checking out here? | JDubb
11.07.23 | My fav of all of these was all female band Drain STH. Especially their first, AIC-drenched album. | Flugmorph
11.07.23 | thanks fam, ill check em out
| Flugmorph
11.07.23 | ok yeah Drain fucking rule. | DominionMM1
