In the Family
Just documenting my family’s taste in music for perpetuity. Is what it is - no need for comments on this one. |
1 | | Tool Ænima
Me - see my lists. Tool is my GOAT. But love several metal genres (alt, prog, nu, industrial, symphonic, sludge, melodic death, and rap) - and rapcore, stoner/desert rock, metalcore, djent, early post hardcore, 90’s grunge/alternative, 80’s hard rock, and old-school hip-hop. Even a small bit of 90’s country, punk, and ska core. Don’t really dig power metal, hair metal, black metal, emo, or later post hardcore. Can tolerate classic rock. |
2 | | Josh Groban Noel
My Wife - could be happy only listening to Josh Groban. Doesn’t like anything with any guitar distortion or that is too loud. Could listen to classic Christmas and Josh Groban songs all year long. Sarah McLachlan is a prior fav of hers. Raised in WI on Disney soundtracks, Jars of Clay and Polka. Played Clarinet in School band. Not a huge fan of my musical taste. |
3 | | Elton John Rocket Man: The Definitive Hits
Oldest Son - started with Johnny Cash and Katy Perry as favs; won’t listen to those anymore. Loves Cartman (of South Park fame) diddies. Plays percussion in HS marching band - so big on his band and their interpretation of Elton John’s Rocket man. Also plays piano and bass clarinet. |
4 | | Metallica Metallica
Middle Son - Likes Metallica and GNR. Was more interested in Rock when taking guitar lessons. Was my only hope for a future rocker - but Doesn’t listen to much anymore. Has an inherent ability to find vocal melody in any song. Now playing the bassoon in MS band. |
5 | | Parry Gripp Do You Like Waffles?
Younger son - pretty much names random songs on Alexa and waits to hear what comes out. Quite irritating, as he does this at awkward times (while people are talking, during dinner). Parry Gripp is the only music he has on his iPad. |
6 | | Bee Gees Their Greatest Hits: The Record
My Father loves Bee Gees/Gibbs brothers, Eagles, Three Dog night, and Alabama. Still has Garth Brooks (and other) cassette tapes in his Buick. Also listens to old-style country and Americana - mostly live at local small events. |
7 | | Bon Jovi Greatest Hits - The Ultimate Collection
My Mother was into 80’s pop and hard rock (Van Halen with Sammy, Bon Jovi, GNR) in the 80’s and into the early 90’s; and now listens to nothing. |
8 | | Quad City DJ's Get On Up and Dance
My Sister - was always into what was popular at the time. Most notably booty music in the late 1990’s and early 2000s. After getting divorced, only listens to Jesus music - quite lame. |
9 | | Michael Jackson HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I
My Sister’s two sons have equally lame taste in music; the oldest of which (is a decent drummer but) worships Michael Jackson. |
10 | | Jethro Tull Too Old To Rock 'n' Roll: Too Young To Die!
My Wife’s father loves the lame side of classic Rock. No Black Sabbath or Led Zep here. Jethro Tull is a big one for him. Also likes classical and some show tunes. |
11 | | Weird Al Yankovic Polka Party
My Wife’s Mother hates any music in general, but played an accordion and polka as a youth. |
12 | | Nickelback The Best of Nickelback Volume 1
My Wife’s 3 siblings - honestly, pretty bottom of the barrel. Only my wife’s oldest sister really listens to music - mainstream rock via Octane while driving. |
