| My 10 Favorite Nu-Metal Tinged Albums
These are about the only albums, which are often labeled as nu-metal, that I enjoy. Just my personal opinion. | 1 | | Slipknot Slipknot
This is the only Slipknot album I really consider full on nu-metal. Yes it has it's corny moments without a doubt but this album did so much for me as a teen, helping expose me to very harsh screamed vocals and get more into heavier types of metal. When they want to be, Slipknot is very good at writing expansive songs like Scissors, Prosthetics, Gently, Iowa. Like them or not, Slipknot was far more aggressive and death metal tinged than any other nu-metal band and served as a great gateway band. | 2 | | Mudvayne L.D. 50
Another band who moved further away from nu-metal after their debut, in their case it turned out to be a bad move. This album however is one of the few near masterpieces of this genre. The bass playing alone makes it worth a listen. | 3 | | System of a Down System of a Down
Went back and listened to this album again recently and fell back in love with it. Very frantic and original at the time. Every song on this album is very solid. | 4 | | Boy Hits Car Boy Hits Car
One of the lesser known bands on this list. This album is a gem. Amazing vocals is the things that stands out most to me here. | 5 | | Snot Get Some
Snot was such an original band at the time, mixing hardcore, metal, and a ska vibe with a bit of rap flow in some of the vocals. It suck that this was their only release. | 6 | | Five Pointe O Untitled
Probably the most obscure band on this list. Along with Slipknot they were one of the only nu-metal bands to mix in death growls, making them stand out from the pack. Hugely underrated album. | 7 | | Korn Korn
Korn inspired many bands on this list so I have to include them of course and this is indeed a good album although Korn had many missteps in the years to follow. | 8 | | Nothingface An Audio Guide to Everyday Atrocity
A really solid band. Definitely inspired early Mudvayne vocals and avoided some of the corniness many nu-metal bands fell into. I could've chose a few different albums by this band. | 9 | | Ultraspank Progress
Discovered this band about 4 years ago. Some very good song writing on this release. I really like their vocals and the groves on this album. | 10 | | Flaw Through the Eyes
Flaw occasionally has some of those corny nu-metal stereotypes but overall I really like this album. Some ballad types of songs and some really good "bangers". | |

05.03.18 | Ultraspank is sooooooooooo good | SymbolicInTime
05.03.18 | Forgot about that Flaw album, surprisingly good. Mainly commenting to check some of these other ones later. Like Ultraspank, Boy Hits Car, etc. Always enjoy finding quality music in a genre that frankly lacks it. | MusicinaBox
05.03.18 | Top 3 would be in my top 10 for sure. I'd add Deftones and Spineshank too. | osmark86
05.03.18 | Indorphine - Glowsticks for Clubbing Baby Seals | Ryfly44
05.03.18 | Was really thinking hard on the last couple, I could definitely add Spineshank, Deftones, early Soulfly and maybe 40 Below Summer | Ryfly44
05.03.18 | thanks, I'll check out Indorphine, haven't heard them yet | Yep321
05.03.18 | The Deadlights | osmark86
05.03.18 | they're a different breed of nu-metal I think you'll enjoy. 40 Below Summer and Deftones should be in this list for sure. | L4titudes
05.03.18 | None of these are good but a few come close | L4titudes
05.03.18 | Actually I take that back. 2 and 3 are GOOD | CompostCompote
05.03.18 | I was slightly nu-metal tinged in the 90's, but a little penicillin and sulfuric acid got it right out. | Ryfly44
05.03.18 | Just my opinion haha. If anyone checks out Five Pointe O, I recommend the song Purity 01 to get a feel for what different twist they put on nu-metal | RippingCorpse1986
05.04.18 | 3 is soooooo good agreed.
Is it strange that I never went through a Slipknot phase lol. | CaimanJesus
05.04.18 | Nothingface, Mudvayne, 36 crazyfists, and Ill nino were my favorites back in the day. Still listen to bitterness the star and a snow capped romance fairly often | BeyondCosby
05.04.18 | System's S/T album is so incredible. So weird and yet so accessible. Their Whiskey-a-Gogo show is off the rails if you haven't seen it. | Drifter
05.04.18 | Chocolaté Starfishó | Indomitable
05.04.18 | 5 is a 5 idgaf | RippingCorpse1986
05.04.18 | Title on 5 reminds me of Lykke Li's Get Some. Very cool Snot album.
Really dug the song they did with Serj Tankian on Strait Up (Starlit Eyes).
RIP Lynn Strait | JDubb
05.05.18 | This is a great list! Snot live was one of the greatest concerts I ever saw, along with Slipknot on the second stage at Ozzfest. Love some Flaw! | Relinquished
