Top Albums Of All Time(Personal List)
My personal Favorites |
1 | | Bathory Hammerheart
This album has everything a metal album needs. Nothing more needs to be said. Valhalla may be the greatest metal track ever written. Had epic atmospheres and a huge influence on every part of metal. I remember being awed by Baptized and Fire and Ice in high school. No going back after that. |
2 | | Celtic Frost To Mega Therion
I always thought this album had such a wide influence. From the dirty trashy guitars to the dark lyrics. everything is perfect. Dawn Of Megiddo is a perfect soundtrack to the apocalypse |
3 | | Candlemass Nightfall
Ok so let me start off by saying that the solo in Bewitched totally floors me. The album is a whole is dark and haunting and a stellar example of amazing doom. |
4 | | Primordial The Gathering Wilderness
Alan Averill might be one the best modern metal vocalists of all time and is probably my favorite of all time. From gloomy and doom guitar riffs to a somber atmosphere. This album takes you to such a dreary place especially on The Coffin Ships, which is about the Potato Famine. |
5 | | Venom Welcome to Hell
This album is where it all started. Was actually just listening to this today and I still get the chills when hearing the epic solo in Witching Hour or shear screeching noise on Red Light Fever. This album always nails it |
6 | | Vali Forlatt
So not exactly metal( at all) but a great piece of music. This album is great for those dark and rainy days. and even those nice days walking through the woods where the sun hits the leaves just right. One of my favorites for sure |
7 | | Metallica Ride the Lightning
Would be a top ten list without Metallica would it? For Whom The Bell Tolls always serve as a great inspiration for me. The solos on this release are some of the best in metal too. And the awesome fucking album cover completely needs to be a post on my wall haha |
8 | | Megadeth Rust in Peace
This album goes back to my high school days as well. I remember hearing the epic Hangar 18 and remembering how epic and cinematic it was...even though it didn't have any keyboards. talks of conspiracy and politics run high on this release and Dave doesn't miss a beat |
9 | | Iron Maiden The Number of the Beast
Instant classic none needs to be said about this. Hallowed be Thy Name needs to be like mandatory for anyone who claims to like music! |
10 | | Ebony Tears Tortura Insomniae
This album helped keep me into metal when i was losing a bit of faith in the genre. Nectars of Eden and Freak Jesus remain two of my favorite metal tracks to this day. A healthy mix of all genres and probably the only good album this band ever did sadly |
11 | | Nuclear Assault Game Over
This album beckons back to the olden days of hardcore punk and mixes it with awesome speed and thrash metal. Top track here for me is Radiation Sickness. This album puts guys like Slayer to shame in my opinion. |
12 | | Onslaught Power from Hell
Dirty, Noisy, and rebellious re the words id use to describe this funny and crushing album. This album has a fuzzy tone to the guitars and the vox remind me of a mix of Kronos and Tom Warrior( which is of course good). Favorite track is Thermonuclear Devastation or Steel Meets Steel |
13 | | Running Wild Port Royal
Let me start off by saying that I am not a huge power metal fan. however this album mixes the right amount of speed metal without too much of the Piratey cheesiness to make for an awesome and unforgettable listen. The cover is hilarious as well. Favorite track is either the title track or Calico Jack. This album is def a killer classic I would never give up |
14 | | Overkill Feel the Fire
This album blew me away when i first heard it. The lyrics are so damn dark and the music itself packs a fucking punch. Wouldn't it be awesome if everything was still like the 80s? Favorite track here is tough since they all make me want to jump straight into the mosh pit haha |
15 | | Gordian Knot Gordian Knot
Another non metal release. This album involves members though from Death and Cynic. Which of course means you are going to get great progressive songs. Rivers Dancing is an incredible track. Great mix of Prog rock, Jazz and a tiny bit of metal. |
16 | | Alkaline Trio From Here To Infirmary
I myself am also a huge fan of punk rock and these guys write some of the best riffs around. Take Lots With Alcohol is definitely a favorite of mine |
17 | | Nadja Touched (2007 reissue)
Getting into the irony realms with this release. Nadja were my first introduction some of the odder realms of music. This re-release defiantly is better than the original. clocking in at over an hour this new version defiantly leaves you in a different state of mind. |
18 | | Ginnungagap Remeindre
Another irony classic I think. Despite the projects obvious name the music itself has more in common w Indian Traditional music. I listen to this album in the dead of summer and feel as though I am in an endless desert. For fans of Stephen Omalley...this is another one of his projects |
19 | | House of Low Culture Gettin' Sentimental
This release is an odd but good ambient/drone ep. Definately worth checking out. short sweet and leaves you wanting more |
