Brand New Ranked
Brand New has a tainted legacy now and it's kind of awkward to bring them up or review them, but there's no denying the impact they made on Emo and Rock Music in general. TDAGARIM alone elevated both genres to new heights.
Please be civil.
Your Favorite Weapon
Angsty songs about heartbreak and being a creepy pedophile. All jokes aside it's a decent 90's pop-punk album.
Favorite Songs: The No Seatbelt Song, Sudden Death in Carolina, Seventy Times 7
Noise Rock being filtered through Post Harcore and Indie Rock. Truly underrated and amazing in its own right.
Favorite Songs: Bought a Bride, In a Jar, Noro
A return to form after the abrasive, loud, noisy, and unsettling Daisy.
Favorite Songs: Can't Get It Out, Same Logic/Teeth, Out of Mana
Leaked Demos 2006
As underwritten as it is (they are demos' after all) there's still a lot of enjoyment to be had here.
Favorite songs: Battalions, Good Man, 1996, Missing You
Probably the best emo album of all time IMO
Favorite Songs: Me vs Maradona vs Elvis, Jaws Theme Swimming, The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows, Okay I Believe You But My Tommy Gun Don't
The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me
An album that grabs you by the throat slams you against the wall and demands your attention for every minute of its hour-long runtime. Truly an undeniable masterpiece.
Favorite songs: You Won't Know, Welcome To Bangkok, Handcuffs, Sowing Season
Daisy is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too low
1 > 5 > 4 > 2 > 6
and if you're gonna count 3, then:
1 > 5 > 4 > 3 > 2 > 6
Deja is great don't get me wrong, but it has not aged as well as most of the discography.
I'll give you that
Deja (nearly tied with Devil)
Daisy (still really like it)
YFW (don’t really like it but only listened a few times)
YFW is alright. I only like it cause it's nostalgic to me.
Shame that all their music has been tainted by Jesse Lacey being a nonce.
only if you let it
People sleep on Daisy way too much.
I love Daisy and is one of my favorite albums. Just whenever it comes to albums I revisit from BN it's not as listened to as Deja and TDAGARIM. The reason I ranked Science Fiction above it is that of sentimental value. I bought SF as a treat for myself after I got my driver's license. It was one of the very first albums I listened to in my new car and I adored it before that but SF took on a whole new meaning for me after that. The themes of moving on and for lack of better word "growing up" really resonated with me.
Beyond sentimental value however, I think Daisy is one of their best albums by far.
"People sleep on Daisy way too much."
Probably because it has a song called Bed
I've been listening to Daisy a lot since GF died. It's the only Brand New album I ever listened to in full with another person. Strangely enough it was when we were having sex.
Yeah, I'm kinda weird that way. She was like whoa this is Brand New? This is kind of heavy...
Bed is a pretty underwhelming song lyrically but that was a pretty lame pun that made me smile...XD
never understood the hate for Bed. Sure the lyrics aren't amazing, but musically it's still great. Guitar especially
Bed irritates me for some reason but I can never get it out of my head either
I think the musical aspect of it is pretty good. Those lyrics are pretty bad though.
"The champ goes down like a crown in the second round"
Jesse you already wrote a perfectly well and good boxing metaphor on Tommy Gun
Uhh I must be weird cuz for me its 5>4>1>3>2>6
Nah you're just different
Bed is solid. Mid tier on the album imo. Has a certain atmosphere/snarky but laid back attitude I like.
Daisy is so good
