My 3rd list of last discovered albums
Ladies and gentlemen, my 3rd list of last discovered albums. As with the last 2 list of discovered albums, the voting will be from 1.0 to 10.0.
Let's see how it looks: |
1 | | Deftones Ohms
9.3. Yes it's the best album Deftones ever made with the best-structured songs. |
2 | | Die Sektor To Be Fed Upon
9.0. With almost all normal songs (not the 3 instrumental ones which are shorter) being over 6 minutes long it's a great accomplishment that 7 of 8 songs only have 2 choruses! All songs have nice twists to change things. |
3 | | Sunny Day Real Estate How It Feels To Be Something On
9.0. Very arty album, often great structured songs and I love when the vocals get really emotional.
Sometimes makes me sad in a positive way. |
4 | | Displacer Moon_Phase
8.8. A very nice discovery for me, very coincidental and fortunate. Right now I can't discover enough idm & glitch artists and albums. Very atmospheric and from the 5th song on till Bits & Bytes it gets colder and colder. |
5 | | This Heat Deceit
8.8. Finally another post-punk discovery. From my favourite post-punk year 1981. Very arty and experimental. |
6 | | The Jimi Hendrix Experience Axis: Bold as Love
8.7. My first of them. Had to check one out after I watched a very fascinating documentary about Jimi on TV. |
7 | | Project Pitchfork Inferno
8.5. It's now one of 7 great albums I have of them. Underrated album, needs some listens to unfold. |
8 | | Bitcrush Epilogue in Waves
8.2. Very nice post-rock. Sometimes icy-foggy, sometimes ethereal and angelic, a very nice hidden gem. |
9 | | Hecq 0000
8.2. My 3rd album of him, another very fine idm & glitch album with amazing atmospheres. October-like and futuristic. |
10 | | Life Cried Banished Psalms
8.1. Another nice dark electro & aggrotech album. Had another phase of that genre weeks ago. Sometimes great albums of this genre aren't easy to find but if you manage it it's very rewarding. |
11 | | Grizzly Bear Painted Ruins
8.0. My 3rd of them. As always very nicely structured with almost always avoiding normal 3 chorus routines. |
12 | | Aphorism (idm) Surge
7.9. Along with Moon_Phase by Displacer at the same time I discovered this album. Both are similar, and have a micro-world kind of atmosphere, unlike other idm & glitch artists. |
13 | | Project Pitchfork Dream, Tiresias!
7.9. Finally dug this album out. Unfolded nicely. |
14 | | Quantum Fantay Kaleidothrope
7.8. Another great psychedelic album, I like the adventures it takes me to. |
15 | | Nurzery (Rhymes) Thorns
7.7. Nice sounds sometimes. |
16 | | Psyclon Nine Divine Infekt
7.7. I read this artist became black metal very soon after the 1st album. I'm thankful I found this album and that it is harsh electro. I only like few bm artists like Xasthur, Agalloch, Sigh for example. |
17 | | Acylum The Enemy
7.3. Very nice sound-wise. Alas the lyrics can be obnoxious sometimes and the swearing can get me tired very fast. Otherwise it's another nice harsh electro album. |
18 | | King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard Flying Microtonal Banana
7.2. Rattlesnake is too repetitive, most others are very good, I like the sound but the song structured are much less clever than on Polygondwanaland. |
19 | | Frost* Milliontown
7.1. Need to listen to this more. |
20 | | Dioxyde Social Phobia
6.9. Most songs are listenable with the typical aggrotech atmosphere and sounds, but often the songs aren't really well-structured and thought out like the other aggrotech albums in this list. |
21 | | SND Atavism
6.9. Alas it's too repetitive. So far I liked / loved all raster-noton albums I discovered but here it's a mixed big. Alva Noto's albums can be repetitive but his songs always still have some nice twists and sounds to keep it fresh. |
22 | | Guru Guru UFO
6.4. Alas it often leads nowhere special. I love some krautrock bands like The Cosmic Jokers, Amon Duul II and Agitation Free and those 3 did it right and very always interesting. |
