Maybe not your thing but Lydia Loveless does it for me lately. Songs like European and Desire are "sad slightly hipster chain smoking white girl with a slight country tinge"
Also, give Mars Argo a spin, she has some good shit that sounds like Doprah vocal-wise. You Don't know me Anymore and Wasting Away are the best.
