11.30.16 | is the defining sound to reclassify the genre consistently throughout the band's music?

11.30.16 | I was irritated as fuck after 25 seconds. I would punch you in the face if we were in the pub. |
guitarded_chuck
11.30.16 | i find it more interesting to simply look at a band/artist's direct musical influences than arguing about genres, its a bit useless |
MO
11.30.16 | yea, trying to pinpoint genres basically takes a lot of the fun out of music in general. makes everything too calculated it's like fuck that shit |
guitarded_chuck
11.30.16 | it can be kind of fun to talk about it but when you start taking it serious and try to form some sort of argument why your reasoning for giving some subjective label to something it becomes a bit self-serving if not narcissistic |
GeorgeWBush
11.30.16 | Irrelevant commentary over gaming footage is AIDS [666] Yee, I generally just use general genres/vaguer subgenres. I don't really see the point of splitting hairs with music classification. I mean, I want to know what I'm getting into with an artist, so I'd like to know if something is industrial hip-hop or ambient post-rock, but really specific subgenres seem too analytical and boring.
And shitty YouTube channels are fun. Mine is currently dedicated to very occasional mediocre covers and dumb school projects. |

11.30.16 | 9/11 was an inside job. |

11.30.16 | Classification of vague sub-genres has always been pointless

stranger
11.30.16 | a talk show implies you have a set and other people and a camera and possibly apply a modicum of effort
this is just a lone manchild droning on about shit nobody cares about over video game footage |

11.30.16 | It's fully scripted with professional recording equipment and a microphone that cost half a grand.
My apartment is too small to use my green screen for full video, and I can't afford a bigger one. |
Devastator
11.30.16 | "microphone that cost half a grand."
It's a fucking youtube video not the state of the union address |
Trebor.
11.30.16 | "It's fully scripted with professional recording equipment and a microphone that cost half a grand."
dude what you have and how much it costs doesn't mean shit, if you're an artist and not a technician you should know that
But yeah my biggest advice would be to try to come up with a unique format
Something I learned I heard in film school that I think applies to everything creative, stop trying to be Quentin Tarantino, the world already has a Tarantino, be you. If you don't know who you are then you need to figure that shit out |
stranger
11.30.16 | "It's fully scripted with professional recording equipment and a microphone that cost half a grand."
holy shit and i thought you couldn't be any more unlikable.
you could have made something for practically free with the same shitty end result. nobody cares about your equipment. do something new or do nothing at all. |
Snide
11.30.16 | @Trebor: Thank you for the critique. The reason I chose that format was because I simply enjoy that format, quite a few Youtubers use it and I found it visually pleasing. There's not really too many other options I have at the moment.
@Devastator and stranger: The reason I have that equipment is because of my music. I enjoy doing the content I do, and bitching at me without any constructive critique isn't a way to solve anything. |
Satellite
11.30.16 | "quite a few Youtubers use it"
lol no fucking shit |
Devastator
11.30.16 | Let me re-read my comment..... Yeah didn't critique you just pointed out you were using a $500 mic for a video on youtube. |
