Home of scholars and wizards, Dream Theater's brand of progressive metal is the perfect pairing. Intelligence is king here, and while it's not necessarily more frightening than Metallica, it's definitely more demanding. |

A perfect example of how mankind's hubris can lead to total devastation and ruin, leaving nothing but a corrupted shell behind. You can try this right away, but you're better off coming back later when you're more experienced. |

1) The breakdowns on this album can feel like a giant smashing a plate on your head.
2) There’s a melancholic atmosphere that permeates both the record and the journey up the mountain when passing by all the dead giants. |

To no one's surprise, it could only really be one band. Half of this area is a blinding blizzard, and when you do break through the blast beats and screeching, there’s a strong sense of beauty and melody. |

This whole area is just… sad. There’s monsters and scarlet rot everywhere, and the ruler is sitting at the bottom of it all, wallowing in her despair. It may only be one song, but you’re gonna be here a while trying to finish it. |

Perhaps the most beautiful area in the game, and with a strong focus on nature, Wolves in the Throne Room’s very ethos match perfectly. Not the most extreme, but a joy to experience. |

It's extreme, it's grandiose, and it will kick your ass. You'll likely be exhausted by the time you reach the end, but you're rewarded with an all-timer of a climax that's equal parts epic and sorrowful. |
