That said afterlife isss my least favorite of the ws movies, and infinite darkness is the worst of the cg movies...but honestly nooot a fan of welcome to raccoon city, the Netflix series sucked but was overhated...honestly the stuff I hated the most was all the post apocalyptic nonsense, rip lance reddick |

11.22.25 | WTRC just kinda struck me as a covid movie where everything was filmed on a bluescreen and no more than like 2 or 3 actors in each scene, i'd be fine with this exceeeeeept: it's about the raccoon city outbreak, nowhere near chaotic enough. i do like that it has some direct connections to the r2&r3make tho and it seemed like it was at least made by fans of the games. also leons pretty funny in it, in a good way.
apocalypse is my personal favorite but i have this like hypothesis that: the closer it got to the games the more ridiculous/nonsensical it got, and apocalypse is my main case in point. it's dumb as hell but just a lot of fun, the first movies the most 'solid' but i feel like it's mostly WS making a stripped down/simplified version of event horizon[namely switching spaceship for the underground lab, the type of horror is different but seems like he made a conscious effort to take what worked about that movie and avoid what sent it over budget]. extinction is somewhere in the middle for me but i do think it has the best camera work of the series. |

11.22.25 | i saw it in theaters opening weekend and right when that storage container door drops open the film/projector caught on fire lol, saw it again the next week. i don't think it's a weak movie buuut i feel like it set the stage/expectations for the rest of the series after that: starts with the world dead, alice runs into survivors/old friends going somewhere, that somewhere is umbrella run and she kills everything, ends with her getting some sort of advantage. thaaan next movies worlds a different state of dead, alice immediately gets whatever advantage from the prior movie stripped away, runs into survivors/old friends... the desert aspect does kinda keep it distinct from the rest, it and final chapter both having a slight mad max vibe. i will say extinction has millas best outfit tho. as someone whose obsessed with the games: don't dig it's take on the tyrant |
