10.01.23 | A few unmentioned but again if y'all got rec a boy would appreciate it.
I used to be fond of most liqours but it seems i've zoned completely into whiskey snob territory lol |

10.01.23 | I remember doing shots of whiskey while Whiskeytown played in the background. |

10.01.23 | Yeah dude it's dope, really good for the autumn/winter season along with some heart stew.
Sucks that it's not properly getting colder yet where i'm at, shits still almost 80 degrees out rn. |
SomeCallMeTim
10.01.23 | McCallan is my go-to scotch. At its worst its very decent, at its best its goated |
budgie
10.01.23 | yeah tim i went through an excessive scotch phase when i was in scotland and i think an expensive maccallan 15 was my favorite. but there was a cheap blend that i cant remember which i loved. think it was irish. one day it will come back to me |

10.01.23 | I’ve been enjoying various bottles of Jura recently, always nice smooth taste |
AsleepInTheBack
10.01.23 | Bruiladdich’s Classic Laddie is a great affordable 50% abv scotch - my go to.
Been enjoying some ECBP recently on the bourbon front, tho shit burns at 68% abv |
AsleepInTheBack
10.01.23 | Also ima be pedantic but Jameson is Irish not scotch, and isn’t peated or otherwise smoky. Whisky snob moment sorry. |
SomeCallMeTim
10.01.23 | If y'all ever get the chance to go, the Jameson factory in Ireland is lit af. Way more fun and interesting than the Guinness factory |

10.01.23 | Yellowstone is terrible imo but to each their own! |
Trebor.
10.01.23 | Calling Jameson scotch has all my Irish and Scottish ancestors rolling in their graves. It's made in Ireland (duh) and tastes nothing like scotch |
bellovddd
10.01.23 | jameson is the goat. |
Trebor.
10.01.23 | I fucking love Jameson. I had some good shit in Ireland but it's still my go too cuz where I live the Irish whiskey selection is not great |
Dedes
10.02.23 | Oh lol my b
My only frame of reference for scotch is like one other one I had that tasted like a slightly tamer Jameson. Also yeah that was a nonce moment from me, completely slipped my mind that -technically- scotch can only be called scotch if it's from Scotland. |
Trebor.
10.02.23 | In all seriousness these distinctions are kinda silly and to the average person it's all just whiskey
The funniest one to me is Jack Daniels which meets the legal requirement of bourbon but insists on being called Tennessee whiskey which doesn't actually mean anything. It's bourbon |
Dedes
10.02.23 | I always thought Jack was a blend hm
Seems distinctive from most bourbons, admittedly i'm not a big fan but I respect it for it's individual flavor and for still ruling in Jack and coke. |
Trebor.
10.02.23 | The mashbill is at least 51% corn and it meets all the other thresholds for bourbon. It's funny if you go on their website it says JD is not a bourbon lol |
Dedes
10.02.23 | Lol it's all marketing, Jack Daniels has their prestige I s'pose. I know people who don't give a fuck about whiskey that love Jack.
Tbh if we're going cheaper big brand whiskey i've always had a soft spot for Evan Williams, shits smooth as hell for barely cracking 20 bucks. |
Trebor.
10.02.23 | I'm a wild turkey man myself |

10.02.23 | Buffalo Trace = GOAT (bison)
Distinction between Irish and Scotch is somewhat meaningful in that Irish is often distilled in a Pot Still whereas Scotch is usually column still, which is partially why Irish has that sugary vanilla shortbread cookie taste and is mega drinkable, whereas Scotch has that weird malty fruity tang.
Also if you're picking up smoke in an Irish (which I think with 1 exception are never smoked) then that's possibly just the difference between the malt bill and barrels from your go to stuff. Like, if you're used to the corn and first-fill charred barrel notes of Bourbon, then the fact that Irish are usually corn-free and matured in ex-bourbon and sherry casks will be sticking out and giving you harsher tones that (because of m a r k e t i n g) you might associate with smoke, but it aint smoke, prolly just malt. |
Dedes
10.02.23 | Yeah that's for sure probably it, I became hardline into bourbon over all so I think the few Irish whiskeys I had just felt distinctly a bit less sweet |

10.02.23 | basil hayden and maker's mark for me |

10.02.23 | Makers Mark really changed my perception on how good a whiskey could be. Before that all I knew was Black Velvet and Evan Williams tbh |

10.16.23 | Tryna delve more into scotch
Glenmorangie is p good but man it does still taste similar to the likes of Jameson to me.
Kinda wish the liquor store nearby had more scotch variety, most of it is either bourbon or cheap Canadian whiskey. |
Dedes
02.17.24 | Angels Envy is maybe my 2nd favorite whiskey now. Kinda high price point i.e 50-55 but absolutely worth it for a super smooth bourbon y'all should czech. |

02.17.24 | For not too expensive scotches I like Laphroaig 10 yr a lot, but I love the stuff that hit pretty hard on the peat notes
Good for sippin, good for mixin, and not too expensive that it feels like a waste to go the latter route if the mood hits |
